There was still n chemistry with Kevin and Cassidy. When he walked back in the bedroom and she was there naked under the covers, she almost looked sick. Ugh!
I'm also confused about Dave--was he really trying to give Jack a chance? |
Wait Randall was pretending to be a bad golfer with the Councilman? I totally missed that. Why would he do that? |
It harkened back to what Jack said to Randall on the golf course ... the thing about sometimes needing to play up and sometimes needing to play down! |
The other council members saw him as a disrespectful interloper who thought he didn’t need/want them. By acting like a novice golfer, he induced them to take him under their wing on the golf course as a way to get them to draw him in politically as well. Pretty damned savvy! |
| I really liked the Randall/golf story line and how it was being portrayed against Jack's own experience on the golf course. I think adult Jack realized the error of his younger self that day with Rebecca's dad and wanted to make sure Randall understood that world and how to use it to his advantage. Jack didn't have anyone to show him that growing up and it became glaringly obvious that day with Rebecca's dad. Jack never fit in to that life, all the while claiming he didn't want or need that life, but he wanted to make sure his kids never felt that way. It was so well done! |
Jackpot likes his jobs and the dad was trying to push him into a job in insurance. He felt pressure to be nice, so he drank. Then he stood up for himself. It was not his best moment, but I cannot believe people think the dad was being nice. He was being a judgemental ass who only cares about money. |
To appeal to the other councilman’s sense of superiority and need to take Randall under his wing. He deliberately acted like he couldn’t play golf so that the other guy would feel protective of him and ultimately want to help him out. He was appealing to the older guy’s ego - and it worked. |
The best story since the season opener. Randall isn’t just booksmart. |
+1 I was completely surprised by that twist! Didn’t see it coming at all. |
Me neither. I thought he was going to go out to practice more so he wasn't embarrassed. I loved the last shot where shot where he aimed it to the water in honor of his dad. |
It’s that no character addresses it as a problem. If she was addicted to drugs or alcohol, they would intervene. But according to the story it’s okay (and beautiful) to be obese. That bothers me. I just want her illness to be part of the story. |
Yes, because she’s not just a mom who doesn’t have time to exercise and eats a few too many snacks kind of heavy. She’s obese in a way that screams trauma. If she were as thin as she is obese, she’d be in an eating disorder program fighting for her life. |
People talk about her stress-eating. |
They do address her unhappiness about her weight, her life trajectory, etc. It's just they don't fixate about it. Her mom and siblings love her, and don't want her to pile on her. Unlike you, who wants this the be the focus ALL THE TIME. |
|
No one is piling one. Why must we look the other way instead of addressing a very very serious health concern.
Especially now that she has Jack, you would think that she would want to lose weight. I did like that Toby mentioned wanting to be there for Jack and not have another heart attack. Yet no one in Kate's family feels they can say anything to her. Toby needs to man up and tell her to call Becks to watch the kid and he and Kate will go work out. |
