Yes, the episode where William and Randall went to Memphis and then William died was probably the best hour of television i have ever seen. |
I go back and forth with Deja but I like the way this episode went and I thought it was realistic. Going through what she has, it's not easy to just fit into another family, especially when you feel different from them. She clearly does appreciate them and is very grateful. I do agree with the comment that it seems like Randall is focusing on her much more than his other two daughters, and that could have a negative impact for them. I wonder if it has to do with him losing his father, and him being adopted as well. I think the last season they were also theories about Annie having trouble as an adult. Does anyone remember what some of the reasoning behind that was? Or those who are saying that they think it is her funeral being foreshadowed, what is the backstory about. Expecting that she will be having a difficult life? |
wait a minute. the kids were growing up in the 90s so born in the 80s - we are supposed to think they knew each other 10 or 15 years before having kids? |
The kids were born in 1980. The pilot was their 36th birthday. |
At first I felt like this as well... but then the thought of her dad not wanting her AND her mom leaving her, was almost too much to bear. She must feel so abandoned. And even though what her mom did was ultimately for Deja's benefit, that must feel horrible, to have your own mom walk out on you. So I can understand her rage and sorrow. I love the relationship she has with Randall, but I do agree that he seems to be focusing way too much on her and maybe not enough on his own girls. Though maybe his girls don't feel that way at all. After all, they have two loving parents and they also seem very fond of Deja, so maybe they're happy their dad is so invested in her. |

Deja is the story-so that’s what you see. In the fictional universe of the Pearsons there are countless other hours where Randall is interacting with his other girls-it’s just not interesting for the tv audience. |
Episode 2 - what did you think?
Heartbreaking that Randall doesn't go to Howard. And Rebecca just watching her kids self-destruct...hard to watch. |
I thought episode 2 was better than episode 1! I lost it when Rebecca gave Kate the shot and Kate started crying. |
So good to see more of William. |
Why do they write Kate as the worst? What she said about being the only one to pass a piece of Jack down was a knife to Randall’s heart. Jean the only one the the Big Three with Jack’s heart. |
So is Sophie no longer on the show? I thought I saw the actress' name appear on the credits last night. Is she still a regular? |
William is back!! I hope we see more of this timeline with William, as well as the younger adult William. And I want to see a lot of Randall’s biomom. There’s so much story to fill in.
Sterling K. Brown just rips me to pieces, almost every damned episode! It was excruciating to see Randall give up HU. I really felt for Rebecca also. It’s so painful to know you need to step up and want to do so, and still struggle with it. I still can’t stand Toby. He’s just so annoying. |
agree on the Toby hate. I really can't stand Kate either. Their whole relationship is so annoying and I find her size to be incredibly distracting. |
I was thinking that maybe last night's story on how Kevin didn't want kids and is starting a new relationship was a set up for Sophie coming back pregnant. |
