Again, couples can be enjoying sex, quite a bit, even if they are not having it 4x/week. It is not a race.

You are posting excessively. I think you have some serious insecurities that somehow have been brought to surface with this thread. Who exactly is this poster racing with?

I could see my DW posting stuff like this. She feels bad because she knows we're having quite a bit less sex than I'd like. It's really the only thing I've brought up as a source of dissatisfaction in the marriage. I've asked, and she says it has nothing to do with me - says she finds me attractive, that I pull my weight around the house, she doesn't feel resentful, etc. I was patient, waited through pregnancy and toddlerhood until the kids were school age for her to get her drive back. When I finally mentioned something, we were having sex a little less than once a month. She says once a week would be good. That's what she aspires to. Despite my initiations, we barely hit twice a month. I think she's convinced herself that we're pretty close to once a week. When she thinks about sexual frequency it makes her feel like a bad wife because the rest of our marriage is so good. So, she'd prefer not to think about it, and when confronted with the topic, she might be inclined to be dismissive of those for whom sex is a bigger priority.

Obviously projecting my impressions of my wife's insecurities onto the PP isn't very reliable, but that might be the sort of dynamic that's going on.

I agree with you. Its just ridiculous to try to put down others who have sex more frequently. Pp is clearly insecure

There it is again. Why would I be insecure? Why the value judgment about frequency of sex?

Because you are obsessing.

This is not all about YOU. Women are chiming in answering questions. Nobody is judging you. You are clearly projecting your own issues and have twisted the conversation that has struck a chord in you. Some people have higher drives than others and that is OK. It is actually refreshing to see women who post that they enjoy frequent sex. Nobody is pressuring anyone to have more sex, that assumption is preposterous and frankly a bit paranoid. You are struggling and it is obvious to everyone. If you are so comfortable with your sex drive and your sexual relationship with your partner, then why are you so rattled by what other people are doing. You cannot police people's bedrooms to make you feel better. Just be happy with yourself.

Sounds like you are the one threatened here. What is so disturbing about the fact that the great majority of marries couples have sex about once a week?

Either you are paranoid or you are poor critical reading skills. Where did I say that I presume to know what goes on in "the vast majority" of the millions of married Americans bedrooms? I know what goes on in my bedroom and I know it upsets you and that you are oddly fixated on it.

3-4 times a week is a sex maniac?

What do they call those of us who prefer sex 7-12 times per week?

Yep. According to Kinsey, only 5 percent of married women age 30 to 39 have sex 4 or more times a week.

You must not know much about Kinsey's research and the controversy surrounding it. Do scientists normally have sex with their subjects? He was a zoologist-he is a world expert in gall wasps. This study is from 1948. Women's attitudes towards sex and sexual enjoyment have dramatically changed since 1948.

Kinsey looks accurate to me. DH here, two kids in 3, 7. Sex a few times a month, somewhere between 2-6, so we are "average" although it sucks. My informal poll of my married male friends put them in the same camp - sex once a week or less, not terribly happy about it. I do know a few men whose wives regained their libido in their early 40s when the kids got older, and I suspect those are the ones who are writing in here in the 3-4 times per week camp. Good for you ladies, you know how to keep a man happy!!

I think DCUM has a higher than average rate of sex positive women. Do you think that has anything to do with the education level or age of your average DCUM poster?

I bet it boils down to physical fitness and confidence-which often does correspond with a higher SES.

Have you ever visited "average America"? Been to Disney? Have you seen how incredibly large some of these people are? Obesity drives sex drive down because is decreases testosterone. exercise drives testosterone up and increased sex drive. If you are sampling average Americans and polling them about their sexual habits, you are sampling unhealthy people. DC might not be the land of beautiful people, but compared to the rest of America, people are pretty fit here and it is obvious when you visit somewhere like Orlando where the condition of the average America is startling.

You know, I lost 40lbs a few years ago. After that I rewarded myself with a boob job. The combo of being physically fit and being happy naked had an enormous impact on my sex drive. I went from maybe 3 times a month to at a minimum of 3 times a week. My DH was always attracted to me, but I was not attracted to me and that was a huge driving force in arousal.

But if you think that's bad, look at how often single or even partnered men have sex. (Hint: It's very, very, very little.) Married people have more sex across the board.

Actually this is a real hormonal shift women go through in their 40s. I have enough friends who are 45, who are like cats in heat. Completely normal. My one friend has mentioned that her DH cannot keep up and she'd do it daily if he could.

There was a topic on it in the explicit forum a while back, very common.

So, we should not judge those who are happy with infrequent sex, but those of us who are into it are trolls, liars and narcissists? That's a fail, ladies, a big, fat fail.

There's only one person on her whipped up into a frenzy here judging women as maniacs who enjoy frewuent sex. Nobodys judging the infrequent sex. This one frantic poster is all bent out of shape attempting desperately to convince herself that women really don't actuall have sex frequently and if they do they are sexual maniacs.

You are wrong, actually. More than one poster who is posting the fact that most Americans don't have sex 4 plus times a week. And the older you get, the less sex you tend to have. And if you aren't married, you have the least sex of all.

This is all statistical fact.
