Please cover your baby's heads and ears. It's cold out there!

This is a very American thing. Bundled up parents with kids in their pj's with no hats or gloves on.
Oh! And on flip flops. Weird

I am interested too, I am European, so is my nanny. We often see bundled up parents at playgrounds etc, and their kids are way under dressed for the season. No scarves, hats, gloves, socks etc. Also kids running around barefoot at home, even though its pretty chilly. We don't get it......

Yet these children are often sick with snot.

This was in October.

Um this sounds racist.

Do you even have kids? Are you not familiar with the argument that ensues every morning over outerwear in many homes? This is not something I fight my kids over. You don't want to wear a coat? Fine, we'll bring it with us and you can put it on later if you get cold. Kids move a lot, generating more body heat than my old sedentary self. Kids are not dropping dead of hypothermia everywhere.

Odd how mom needs a hat for herself, but baby doesn't.

OP must be really old since she didn't answer the question. Go post on DC Cranky Grannies. They might be more supportive over there.

If I take my kid bobcat hunting, should I have her wear a hat then?

Babies/kids can't wear big warm puffy jackets in a car seat. It would take more time for me to put on a huge coat, hat, mittens than it would for me to just walk in the store. When they were infants I had a blanket I would bring but now I just make sure to have them in a sweatshirt. My 4 yr old puts her jacket on backwards in her car seat. She often prefers to just run inside without it and I'm not going to fight about it.

I'm also European and I thought I was the only one noticing this trend. And also in the summer they wear jeans and long sleeve shirts when it's almost 90s outside and humid. I dress my kids appropriately and they've never had an ear infection, sinus infection, or pneumonia. It's very easy for kids to lose heat when the head is unprotected.
