Please cover your baby's heads and ears. It's cold out there!

So yes, I walk into the store in a parka while my kid is unbundled.

This. OP, the kid is outside for like 30 seconds. They will be fine. Learn to MYOB.

I had an old lady scold me today for not having a hat on my infant. He was sleeping, wearing fleece, and bundled up against me for the five minute walk from the metro. I didn't realize until reading this thread that this was so common!

Im one of those moms that doesn't have my kid dressed for the weather if we are just going from teh parking lot to a building. Babies aren't supposed to wear coats in car seats anyhow. My one year old yanks her gloves and hat off etc. So yeah, for a one minute walk from my car to the inside of the rec center (this was yesterday), I didn't bother. Baby is just fine. No one is getting a cold from cold weather and certainly not frostbite!

MYOB. How ridiculous.

I've looks for being a "mean" mom who lets my kids *choose* if they want to put on their jackets for the 15s walk from the car to the store. What with having to take the jackets off in their car seats, it takes just as long to stand outside the car and put them on as it does to just walk inside as is. 37 is NOT that cold. Everyone's still alive.

Sorry, that was supposed to be I've gotten. I edited and screwed up, apparently.

+1. Same in our home. No heavy coats with car seats.

Hmm well that could have been me if it was a different whole foods/car. DS is 1 and doesn't wear his hat or coat while in the car seat. No coat for safety reasons, and no hat because he pulls it off. I had a hat on because I thought it was colder than it was, and when I went to take it off, my hair was all static and standing straight up and I looked crazy, so I kept my hat on.

I took DS out of the car, slipped on his jacket and put him in the shopping cart. I considered the hat, but considering DS would just tug it off, I decided it wasn't worth it for the 30 seconds it would take me to get from the car to inside whole foods. I can assure you, DS was just fine.

We don't live in Syracuse, NY.

A winter coat is fine.

Babies aren't supposed to be all bundled up in their carseat. It's actually very dangerous. How do you know that the lady didn't have a blanket over the baby while in the car?

I love how the OP thinks she cares more about a random child than the child's mother does. MYOB.

Me too!

I do this too! Seriously trying to wrestle my wiggling 7 month old into her jacket and hat is takes more time than it's worth. In less than a minute we'll be in a warm store and she will have taken off her hat before we even hit the door. She won't freeze and I generally toss a blanket over her.

I'd be more concerned about a preschooler running around for an extended period of time with no hat on.

Yes, 37 degrees IS.THAT.COLD if you are exposed to it for a prolonged period of time. Running from a car into a store is an entirely different matter.
