Dear middle-aged women: capri pants do nothing for you.

If her sensibilities are offended by the majority of middle-aged women's choice in attire, then maybe she is the one who needs the attitude change, and not the rest of the world who needs the wardrobe change. Is it possible for us to get more superficial?

If you feel lovely or cute or sporty in the capris, please wear the capris.

Guy here. Honestly women, the capri look is a horrific look and for some reason it's typically
the fat, unattractive women who insist on wearing them and with cheap flip flops to boot.
Have mercy on those around you and respect yourself by wearing the appropriate garb in public.

The OP is correct and the bitch hounding her is the one I'm most likely talking about.

I want nothing to do with a man who has an opinion on capri pants, or any other article of clothing.

or an opinion of any sort.

OP, I strongly suspect you look awful in capri pants. What else would drive someone to post this meaningless troll like thread? You likely look awful in many things. Back off and don't quit your day job, because style consultant ain't working for you.

I would much rather hang out with someone that is not a backstabber (as you are); than someone who pretends to know anything about fashion.

Could you be any more shallow and judgmental?

what's wrong with being brutally honest?

husbands who apparently "love" their women in capris have a totally other agenda

a nice cottony skort works.

Smartpants, aren't you? Pun intended.

This new thing called a sundress might not look good on everyone. Depending on your body shape, it can actually be drawing attention to your trouble spots. In my book, some women look better in their capris than in their sundresses.

Ugh, dresses. Hate them and their impracticality. Nope, I'd take capris over a stupid dress any day.

at least dresses are attractive to men, even practical ones

Thanks, Dr. Laura Schlessinger

don't dismiss her so quickly dear. there's a reason guys aren't marrying you and if they are, they're soon gone.

Wow!
I am a middle aged woman. I do have bad varicose veins. I do wear capri pants as a nice alternative to having the immediate community have to bear the unsightly burden of said bad veins as I do.
All I have to say is this.......if all you have to do is complain about some middle aged women ( or whomever decides to ) wearing capri pants, and then keep up with the responses, then you need to get a job or go out into your community and do some volunteer work. You have way, way too much time on your hands. People wear what they wear for a wide variety of reasons, most of which should not matter to you. Are you going to slam chemo patients for wearing head scarfs next.
Jeeeeez, woman. Go do something productive. And, pray a little more.

Capris didn't work on me in my twenties! I have very muscular thighs and I am not tall.

My mom wears them when its hot out, but she's in her late 60s when shorts aren't an option.

Ahh C there are several issues here- one- capris- sexy or not regardless of age- the consensus is it's cooler in hot weather than pants but not shorts- so a practical approach. The same issue is at any age- over 20-30-40-50.. I do not think this is a sexy garment intended to draw in men.. so no matter what age- it's not the sexy go-to item. It's more the practical approach. Capris look better on taller women- but shorter women also need an in between from shorts. So- basically- give the capri weares a break- they are doing it as a in between from shorts (too much desired exposure in some cases) to pants (summer- hot). Regardless of age, capris may or not be used but back off- it's up to the wearer and the decision to wear or not to wear is not because of your opinion based on above. Grow up people- and by the way= 60-70 (which I am not) is so around the corner for posters so be a little forward in our opinions. Geez- do you remember when 30 was so OLD?

Fine, you want to look frumpy and stumpy. You want to highlight your round stomach and your fat ankles and sensible shoes.

Ah, spring! Birds sing, flowers bloom and DCUMers carp about capri pants. Ladies, get off of the computer, put on some sunscreen and go out and take a walk on this glorious day. No matter what your age, body type or fashionista tendencies, you will look better if you get some exercise.

People - middle age women with bad veins do need exercice - true. However, the problem with the veins, more likely than not, is genetics. Harp on us all you want.......my guess is if you are complaining about frumpyness, you are very young and do not understand. May you be cursed with the damn things in your future.
If you are busy with capri pants not being 'sexy' enough, you are a lonely or sex addicted guy.
Capri pants are, at the very least, a heaven sent answer to many fashion quandries. End of story. Too damn hot for long pants - but not too dressy for a skirt/dress.....wear capris. Legs not lookin' too good in a short skirt......wear capris. Need a compromise to a simi-sort of dressy event....but not sure how dressy - get a nice pair of capris, add a really nice top, -go! Get over it people! I hope capris are here to stay!

Are capris the same as cropped ankle pants?
