In my entire existence, this is the worst I've ever felt being an American. Absolutely ZERO to be proud of these days. Everything has disintegrated into a steaming pile of sh*t.

I wish it were easier to move abroad. We are stuck in this morass.

China is what it is. This is a culture and a civilization that has existed for multiple milennia. It is dense, beautiful, and has achieved much. It is enviable. It is also a corrupt totalitarian regime that heavily controls information access to its citizens and commits internal atrocities against multiple ethnic groups.

The US has its own points of pride and of shame. Recently, a lot of additional shame.

Let's not forget that China unleashed COVID on the world, thanks to its "research," killing millions of innocent people. And China got through it by welding people into their apartments to enforce quarantine.

The US is in decline as a world a power, China remains on the upswing. The decline might not be recoverable, at least not for a very long time. The decline is almost entirely the fault of the Republican Party. I don’t know what you are whining about, everyone is laughing at us.
