China is 92 percent Han Chinese. Yes, there are Tibetans and Uyghurs and so on in western China, but overall it's pretty culturally monolithic. So it has a very different reality than a country as diverse as the US.
In the abstract, people may appreciate the stability of Xi and a technocratic elite that thinks longterm over the chaos and instability Americans are choosing with their voting for Trump and putting morons in government who can't think beyond the next election. However, these two systems are not interchangeable. The US would have a revolution the minute we tried to impose a Chinese system. And China would fall apart if they had an American style democracy. But democracy and free-for-all capitalism has certainly not been distinguishing itself in recent years. Whereas China has. But it's not a replicable system in the vast majority of countries. |
I’m not a fascist, dummy, I’m a socialist/Marxist. And I would appreciate the relative absence of petty crime and the unproductive parasite class that we are saddled with here, if we had a society and government like that which China has. I’m a lifelong Democrat, but one of the things I absolutely loathe about our party is we put up with criminals and willfully unproductive people as two very prominent constituencies in our tent. Both groups contribute almost nothing positive to society, and they make our tolerance for them look stupid. I don’t expect this will make any sense to you though, since you seem to believe fascism and socialism are the same. So you aren’t even intellectually equipped to post in this thread. |
DP... So you're telling us you're having a problem coping with the basic realities of human nature. Marxism has some great tenets on paper, but ultimately failed because it's dependent on an unrealistic utopian ideal. Same reason libertarianism and anarchocommunism and so many other ideologies fail. The Soviet Union, Maoist China and other nations ended up having to turn to authoritarianism to try and combat human nature and still failed anyhow. "Try harder to bring those criminals and unproductive people in line" only made things uglier. |
I can guarantee you that the typical American is not losing any sleep over Asia. Or thinking much at all about them. They are too wrapped up in their own little worlds. But I guess if you need to believe it to make yourself feel better, go right ahead. |
Agreed. I mean, there is someone (or maybe more than one) person who is absolutely obsessed about this topic on dcum, and they can't stop posting about it. But really, nobody else cares. It's just tiresome -- the posting equivalent of verbal diarrhea, and about as meaningful. |
