Interestingly, Israel is a proponent and motivating reason behind the invasion. Iran has the ability to cut off oil supply via the Gulf of Hormuz so by having access to oil in Venezuela, this strongly weakens the Iranian position. And consequently engagement with Iran and comes easier.
