Political Discussion
DP Actually Australia itself has accused Iran of targeting the country by orchestrating antisemitic arson attacks on Jewish community sites in Sydney and Melbourne. in late 2024. Australian intelligence concluded that the Iranian government directed these "extraordinary and dangerous acts of aggression" to sow discord and undermine social cohesion. The specific incidents cited by the Australian government include: - An arson attack on the Lewis' Continental Kitchen, a kosher delicatessen in Sydney, in October 2024. - An arson attack on the Adass Israel Synagogue in Melbourne in December 2024. The Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) determined that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) directed these attacks through "overseas cut-out facilitators" who recruited local criminals to carry out the acts. In response, the Australian government: Expelled Iran's ambassador to Australia, Withdrew its own diplomats from Iran. Plans to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization. |
Israel gets most of its natural gas from Azerbaijan. If Iran is interfering anywhere, my guess is that would be the nation to do it since Israel’s vulnerable/reliant on Azerbaijan. Not Australia. |

They sent inexperienced young officers to Bondi to patrol the celebration. They were completely outgunned as well. If Australia wants to keep guns out of the hands of its citizens that’s their prerogative but to arm police with just a pistol is ridiculous. Last weekend it cost people their lives.
“Attendees estimated there were about four of them at the festival when the shooting began, multiple sources said (police refused to confirm; on Tuesday night, Premier Chris Minns said there were two, and reportedly later clarified to three). They were armed with pistols, which the vast majority fire once a year when they practice shooting at paper silhouettes at a distance of about 15 metres.” “When Stop the Threat was introduced, the NSW Police Association called for every general duties police car to carry so-called long arms firearms, which would allow police to aim at active shooters from a longer and safer distance. They’re used in New Zealand (where police weapons are kept in cars) and Canada.” “That request was never granted. Only the Tactical Operations Unit and the Public Order and Riot Squad have access to and are trained to use Colt M4 assault rifles. But after Bondi, police are privately admitting that general duties officers may need access, even if it’s just a single rifle kept at the local station in case of an emergency.” When you’re pinned down by terrorists firing into a crowd do you want the police to have to drive back and forth from the station to pick up a single rifle? Their Stop the Threat active shooter training teaches them that most active shooter incidents last around 5 minutes. A trip back to the station is useless, and directly contradicts their training. https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/police-were-young-and-outgunned-where-was-the-back-up-at-bondi-20251216-p5no5i.html |
Underprepared because they see it as a way more unrealistic crime than we do. |

The attack was horrific and tragic. It’s exactly the type of event that i feared after Israel’s retaliation in Gaza and all the harm it’s done there. Cycles of violence don’t even with more violence. Those kids living in Gaza with dead relatives and no fixed roof over their heads (and hungry) are not growing up to see Jewish people as their friends.

| Netanyahu claims that this tragedy was the result of Australia recognizing a Palestine state. I'm not sure how he came to that conclusion though. |
Australia isn't next to Gaza. The Jews in Australia weren't involved. |
Stop the Threat training is specifically geared towards the Bondi massacre. Not equipping officers in a manner that makes them effective across the entire threat spectrum is a dereliction of duty. Leadership should be fired. Policies should change. Training should change. Terrorists don’t play by anyone else’s rules. The government has blood on its hands. |
I wouldn’t put it past Netanyahu to order these attacks just to advance his agenda. Jewish people have been betrayed. Netanyahu is no better than the Nazis they fled. I understand why so many Jewish people have been slow to see the betrayal though. They’ve got generations of trauma that have taught them to be proud and defensive. |
This idea of trying to ensure that every department is prepared to exceed the entire threat spectrum seems unrealistic, which brings us back to regulation and gun control … |
lol does this apply to to the IDF on oct7?

That’s what you call a confession. recognition of a Palestinian state = terrorism in your country is what he’s saying. If there’s something Netanyahu hates more than Palestinians it’s left wing Jews. Most of the victims on 10/7 were lefties living in kibbutz. Obviously the Jews of Australia did not lobby hard enough if the country recogniEd a Palestinian state. It’s amazing how they haven’t stopped Netanyahu from talking. Every time he does, he reveals so much |
The first non-DV related mass shootings in 30 years and you are saying they should have been better prepared? Very easy to say with hindsight. Police departments face challenges in resources and responding to demands from many parts of the community and often come up short. Unfortunately, it often takes one horrific incident or multiple smaller incidences to invoke public outrage and force change. The reality is ownership of guns has surged in Australia over the last decade or two and elected officials are the ones who have to address that. Australia is struggling with a number of policing challenges now (increasingly open gangland killings, wave of cocaine). Terrorism is one of the issues, but not the only one. There has been a particular focus on domestic violence and partner murders in the last few years and these have killed more Australians than terrorism. While better policing may be called for, more restrictions on access to guns have to be enacted by elected officials and are the most important step to keep Australians safe. |
Coincidence that the messaging is the same... People are catching on to these coordinated campaigns from the ethnostate. 'Albanese - shame on you!' | MK Tal warns Australia over antisemitism and terror https://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/419499 MK Ohad Tal, Chair of the Israel-Australia Parliamentary Friendship Group, delivered a fiery speech in the Knesset plenum this morning. During a plenary debate about the terror attack in Sydney this past Sunday, MK Tal criticized the Australian government's policies toward Israel. "Only recently, Australian Prime Minister Albanese proudly declared that his country recognizes a so-called 'State of Palestine.' What message does this send to radical Islamist forces, when after October 7th, you recognize a Palestinian state?!" |
