Really disappointed in the lack of conversation about the antisemetic attack in Australia

They found ISIS flags in the shooters vehicle. Maybe a connection to Syria?

Isis is the archenemy of Iran-they fought bitterly in Syria for years now.

If the shooters had Isis flags, why is the Australian PM saying they’re connected to Iran? Iran and Isis are opposites

Iran is covertly interfering in countries including Australia. Why not make it appear their arch enemy was connected and attracted any retribution?

Sorry. No way Iran has this much power. You have fallen for Clinton / Biden / Israel propaganda. Sorry.

Actually Australia itself has accused Iran of targeting the country by orchestrating antisemitic arson attacks on Jewish community sites in Sydney and Melbourne. in late 2024. Australian intelligence concluded that the Iranian government directed these "extraordinary and dangerous acts of aggression" to sow discord and undermine social cohesion.

The specific incidents cited by the Australian government include:
- An arson attack on the Lewis' Continental Kitchen, a kosher delicatessen in Sydney, in October 2024.
- An arson attack on the Adass Israel Synagogue in Melbourne in December 2024.

The Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) determined that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) directed these attacks through "overseas cut-out facilitators" who recruited local criminals to carry out the acts.

In response, the Australian government:
Expelled Iran's ambassador to Australia,
Withdrew its own diplomats from Iran.
Plans to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization.

I'm not sure how Iran benefits from orchestrating such an attack. I definitely think foreign entities were at least partly involved, but the investigation should really focus on who benefited from the aftermath of this tragedy and would thus have a motive.

You don’t see any reason for Iran encouraging or sponsoring attacks on Jews?

If Australia wants to keep guns out of the hands of its citizens that’s their prerogative but to arm police with just a pistol is ridiculous. Last weekend it cost people their lives.

“Attendees estimated there were about four of them at the festival when the shooting began, multiple sources said (police refused to confirm; on Tuesday night, Premier Chris Minns said there were two, and reportedly later clarified to three). They were armed with pistols, which the vast majority fire once a year when they practice shooting at paper silhouettes at a distance of about 15 metres.”

“When Stop the Threat was introduced, the NSW Police Association called for every general duties police car to carry so-called long arms firearms, which would allow police to aim at active shooters from a longer and safer distance. They’re used in New Zealand (where police weapons are kept in cars) and Canada.”

“That request was never granted. Only the Tactical Operations Unit and the Public Order and Riot Squad have access to and are trained to use Colt M4 assault rifles. But after Bondi, police are privately admitting that general duties officers may need access, even if it’s just a single rifle kept at the local station in case of an emergency.”

When you’re pinned down by terrorists firing into a crowd do you want the police to have to drive back and forth from the station to pick up a single rifle? Their Stop the Threat active shooter training teaches them that most active shooter incidents last around 5 minutes. A trip back to the station is useless, and directly contradicts their training.

Underprepared because they see it as a way more unrealistic crime than we do.

Stop the Threat training is specifically geared towards the Bondi massacre. Not equipping officers in a manner that makes them effective across the entire threat spectrum is a dereliction of duty. Leadership should be fired. Policies should change. Training should change. Terrorists don’t play by anyone else’s rules. The government has blood on its hands.

lol does this apply to to the IDF on oct7?

They had the means to repel the attack but they blew it.

We couldn’t at least make it to 2026 first before hearing Netanyahu screech for war in Iran again. If he wants a war , what’s stopping him? He can fight them and leave us out of it. America shouldn’t be hand holding.

Why would he be stupid enough to fight Iran without the US when he's gotten them to fight at least 6 other countries for Israel?

For Israel’s own sake I really hope they don’t invade Iran. They are grossly overestimating their strength and the will of the U.S. to engage in long term military combat.

Iran can't defeat anyone, which is why they act through terror groups as proxies. In a direct conflict with any modern military, they be quickly crushed. They have outdated and relatively primitive weaponry, no capacity to resupply themselves, and a near total dependence on similar regimes who would be uninterested in propping them up any further.

Iran follows the standar Islamist expansionist playbook. Fortunately, they have little capacity to actually do anything to promote their perverse ambitions. Sponsoring proxies to act for them has accomplished nothing, which doesn't seem to deter them because Iranian lives aren't being lost.

I never said exceed, they need to mount an effective response.

To be effective they need assault rifles. The linked story says three specialty units already have assault rifles. According to the article they petitioned for rifles for regular police but that was denied. If the officers at Bondi had rifles how many lives would have been saved? One? Five? Ten? If just one officer had a rifle lives would have been saved.

There are plenty of Jews they could attack nearby. No need to go to Australia.

And yet the Australian government expelled the Iranian ambassador in August as they determined that Iran was behind two attacks on a synagogue and a jewish deli.

Suppose you can say that about anything if you’re a sh*t stirrer.

How many Palestinians have died? You get to kill more Palestinians, and we have to be more effusive in our grief over the death of Jews?

Perhaps if the fascist, far-right, theocratic Israeli state didn’t equate religion with nationhood, this wouldn’t be such a problem…

I recall being told that attacks like this are simply "part and parcel" of living in a modern Western city.

This attack is just a peace day in Gaza. Yet there is no coverage of Gaza and reporters are not allowed in to Gaza.

We should treat both sides the same.
