Lady, it's going to -10 in Michigan. I get why they cancelled school. It will be 10 here. 20 whole degrees warmer. Our children will be just fine. Bundle them up.

And Thursday. The cold advisory goes through Thursday morning at 10am.

FCPS will start on time tomorrow and not even bother to explain the inconsistency.

Sorry Wed. They will start on time on Wed.

Haha yes. I don’t even know why tomorrow.

And no I’m not just a parent. I’m a teacher and 2 hour delays are so frustrating.

I'm a SAHM and 2 hour delays are the worst option by far. It's so much easier to adapt for a full day at home than figuring out what to do for 2 hours that keeps them entertained but also isn't so silly that it's going to mess with their ability to focus when they get to school. Plus it's the coldest, iciest hours that aren't great for outdoor play. I understand why they're going with a delay but I really wish they would pick either a normal start or a full closure.

No chance. ^^
Wednesday is forecasted to be colder than Tues.

2hr delay through Thurs.

Loudon call it....I guess we will see what the morning brings

Could the Loundon poster please go away.

Why are you chiming in on every fcps post? Don't you have your own forum? Go be a pest in the APS or MoCo. Forums.

It is not one person. These two counties touch and share a lot of the same issues with size and weather patterns. It is very logical to compare the two when you’re trying to figure out what the other one might do.

You must not have a middle school student who starts at 7 am and stands outside in the darkness for a bus.

Why on earth do they need to be entertained?? Just let them sleep a little later, watch a show, take their time getting dressed. It’s 2 hours, there’s no need to be putting on a circus for them.

Dangerously cold all day, need to shut down for safety. Look for the annoucement. It's too cold for school, dangerously cold all day. It may even get colder as the day goes on.

It is -5 degrees with the wind chill. You could get frostbite in LITERALLY seconds.

Thoughts on if they will stay open for after school activities and events? My kid has an event that goes until 9:00pm tonight…

I guess they forgot to make your announcement!

Soon. Too much liability especially with Loudon closed. They set themselves up for negligence lawsuits.

Yes, if school opens, after school activities will go on.
If school closes (highly unlikely now), they will be canceled.

Too late now. The busses are on and kids are on them.

I think they will see it can happen and we might go back to normal time the next two days.

They are not liable for your mental health issues.

Even when the windchill is -25, it takes 15 MINUTES to get frostbite.
