Most likely a 2 hour delay. It could be cancelled if they can’t the busses started in time |
|
Diesel engines may have difficulty starting in single digit temps. Don't count windchill, it's air temp only. I'm not sure the temps we'll have at dawn this week (coldest mornings will be Wednesday and Thursday) warrant a delay.
And since crews are out today to clear roads and sidewalks... overall, I think chances of on-time opening are high. Please look to your own sidewalks and cars. The small amount of snow we received is sticking to all surfaces. |
| I disagree. |
| My guess is 2 hr delay - roads in my area were ice coated early this morning. The sun has helped matters |
| Manifest it everyone. We know how desperately some of you like to stay home and keep your kids with you. |
| Is remote learning an option? |
No, the governor said it doesn't count toward school days. I predict on time. The current superintendent has never closed for temperatures. I remember my first 10 years in FCPS, it was a given that single digit mornings = delay, but then she came and we opened on time multiple single digit mornings her first year. Staff was shocked and felt like we'd been lied to about bus abilities for so long, lol. Short of major mechanical issues, I think we will be on time. |
Accurate assessment. |
| 2 hour delay - the roads are totally fine but it will be very cold at 6:30am for the middle schoolers. |

I don’t think we’ve had this combo
of cold and icy in over 10 years. If it were just really cold, I would agree with you. |
| We just had a cold weather Advisory w/windchills down to -5 issued through 10 am tomorrow. I could see a delay for the sake of walkers and kids standing outside at bus stops. |
| There are two issues. First the cold and wind chill temps. Second, many neighborhood roads and sidewalks from Sundays weather are icy. I think delay or closed on multiple days. I think the icy neighborhood roads will not be safe for the busses, and they don’t want kids standing at bus stops waiting on stuck, delayed, or broken down busses especially in those temps. |
Neighborhood roads aren’t fine. Many are icy. The main roads are fine where we live. |
