The good news is that we ain’t negotiating. We can just take it and the Panamanians can go back to banana farming and money laundering.

So much for the “no wars” gibberish you guys were pushing. We always knew you were lying.

Your insistence that MAGA is full of peaceniks is hilarious. You do understand we are the 2A, Peace Through Strength party, right? We never claimed to be pacifists. On the contrary, as you know, international business will be conducted behind the barrel of a gun.

Like I said, I always knew you all were lying. But many others fell for it.

The issue Trump is raising is about China-controlled ports there, and I don't see why the US should have to put up with China imposing extortionate fees on access to a canal we built. It's actually very bad foreign policy to ignore our adversaries and cede dominance to them.

We also have the issue of China controlling ports in the US. This is behind Trump supporting the union over automation.

Yeah. Interestingly, the people on the thread expressing anger about Trump's position haven’t explained why they are in favor of China's dominance in that region.

Easy answer.

Because modern American democrats are actually communists-in-hiding, and being communists, they will aid and abet other communists - excuse me - fraternal socialist allies - around the world.

If something is good for the Chinese Communist Party, then it’s good with American democrats, too.

You are giving the Dems too much credit. They are not capable of an international conspiracy and carrying water for the COMINTERN. It is much simpler. After 20 years of identity politics Cultural Revolution brainwashing, most Dems just view everything as “Whitey bad POC good” ergo supporting Chinese communist and “LatinX” drug runners equals good.

You know….I thought about this almost the entire time I was walking my dogs just now… and I think you’re probably right. At least with the masses. I still contend that there are communist fellow travelers among our gilded coastal elite of the democrat party, but among the rank-and-file leftists, it’s probably as you elude to.

They’re not even smart enough to be actual ideologists.

Very sad. We assign these people too much credit.

I agree with you. The OP and others who are upset with Trump for taking up this issue are unable to offer a reason why it's wrong apart from "Trump yelled on Twitter." Which, if you read his statements, is quite a stretch. They are not able to differentiate the issue from the delivery, not able to discuss any historical or policy related issues on this topic. They can't even see the connection between China's control of ports accessing the Panama Canal, and how this issue relates to geopolitical control of Latin America. They have failed to demonstrate the most basic knowledge of an issue *they raised,* and have repeatedly insisted that everyone who opposes them is illiterate. I have to question what kind of hellhole they crawled out of, that they find it even plausible that over half of the country reads at a 5th grade level. In any case, yes, they dont seem to have the intellectual capacity to be Communists.

They run on emotion, not logic. Unfortunately this is what you get, the immediate swelling of emotions that scream "TRUMP BAD, ANYONE WHO SUPPORTS HIM IS AN ILLITERATE MORON!"... it is really quite sad. I can never imagine being so pent up with rage and hatred, it must be miserable.

NP- What part of this is lost on you? What do you think "peace through strength" and "barrel of a gun" means? You people really are slow, you can want and have a badass military and not want to have needless wars. It's part of the National interests of power for a reason (DIME), wield them all. SMH

I don't think many people mistake MAGA for hippies. I think you're alone in that, buddy.

Hi pot meet kettle.

Trump is sharing his random pot thoughts again. I wonder if someone offered him a kickback for getting shipping costs down.

Trump is bringing visibility to a serious issue. This is how he does it. If you don't realize that by now, you haven't been paying attention.

Interesting that so many think this is a MAGA gotcha - then when the reality of the Canal essentially being controlled by China is highlighted everyone gets really really quiet.

OP, here. Maybe FOX News will lend come right wing credibility to the topic: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/panamas-president-hits-back-trump-idea-reclaim-key-canal.amp

Trump is a big bully. He is talking sht all over the place. Whether it’s “trolling” Canada. Or talks of “invading” Mexico. Or now “retaking” control of the Panama Canal, to which control was transferred to Panama and is now their sovereign property.

How you dumbfks think Twitter “diplomacy” conducted by virtual threats online is remotely presidential is astounding. Imagine if Biden did this sht. You people are complete fkig cultists and you’re too up this guys ace to see it. His behavior and tone is going to push away alliances. This is not a projection of strength you trailer park hicks.

What is the serious issue? Transit fees and ship quotas caused by drought and low water levels?

Anonymous wrote:And that Canada is actually the 51st state like Trump has been saying? Just curious if that is normal stuff and helps with international relations? I know half of America reads at a 5th grade level, but I’d really like those who voted for him to let me know if it’s helpful to talk that way. Thanks!

Trump plays 3 dimensional chess while the rest of the world plays checkers. Yes, this helps international relations. Shows that America is back in charge of the world.

Exactly. I think Trump must hear security briefs and only understand part of it. So maybe he heard Chinese growing influence in Panama is actually a threat and he then spouts off things like the US is taking back control of the canal.

Panama recognized Taiwan ip until 2017 when they stopped and supported China. So then China has poured billions into Panama including the canal. This is absolutely not in the US interest.

Don't worry, after Christmas he'll be on to another issue, causing his staff further whiplash with regards to priorities and policy.
