PP Langley parent here.
I can confirm this. Yes it was the same attack/ coach kid.
Yes he is too wild with the stick, nothing new.

Yes a slash, yes hit the helmet, overly dangerous- no. Seen this 1000x before yes- from many players that don’t know how to play D.

Penalty called and that would have been the extent of the rough play.

Different Langley parent here. According to my son, the Indy player was trash talking and skirmishing after game ended but before the handshake line, which resulted in the ref announcing that he is ejected from the NEXT game. This happened at the scorers table which is why parents are not aware of it. But from the parent sideline I could hear this player running his mouth the whole game. For Yorktown's sake, I hope that VEL upholds the ref's decision, so they can have reasonably clean game without one kid trash talking and taking cheap shots all over the field.

Don't know what to make of this. While I can see this happening there are just a bit of things that do not add up:

So, player is trash talking and skirmishing after the game.
This rises to the level of a ref ejecting the player from the next game.
However
A flag was not thrown which is standard for refs
This did not draw enough notice for the people on the parents sideline to notice
Additional players did not join in or pull people apart
Coaches from either team didn't pull players aside

It sounds very fantastical that a ref would eject a player for actions (trash talk etc) that would have been so minor that the people there didn't see anything out the ordinary, but so major that there was an ejection, if they indeed happen.
Something just does not add up here.

What I do know-
If the league is not going to suspend the player, then a coach (dad or not) is not going to do so. If the league says they can play, they do.
I know VEL and EB. I have played for EB. If the ref says they are ejected, EB and VEL will definitely support the refs and sit the player.

I will withhold my judgement until next week to see if the player plays and I will have my answer to the honesty of the above posts.

very good points. one possibility is that the post game stuff was minor, but the refs know the player and he is on a watch list based on his past actions.

This stuff is funny and I really hope that Indy is good this year. Langley parent and game was a little chippy but was still a good game. Does anyone know anything about the player that was taken away in an ambulance? My understanding was that it was a JV player from the previous game.

I think more than enough attention has been given to a dirty, mediocre player on an 0-2 team.

were there any good performances by kids and/or teams worth talking about?

any good matchups this coming weekend?

Robinson v. Bishop Ireton
Yorktown v. Indy
Battlefield v. Madison
PVI v. Langley

Ireton crushed Battlefield and Battefield beat Robinson, so Ireton should win that one.
PVI will kill Langley
Yorktown v. Indy and Battlefield v. Madison should be good games.

Was very surprised by the Ireton 11-3 win over Battlefield. I thought that would be a better game. Did anyone catch that one?

Correct was a JV player in the previous game.
Apparently the boy ducked and turned his back on a shot and hit him in the back of the head.

While not black division has anyone seen oakton. Sort of hoping for an oakton revival

Have not seen them but they are 1-1.
A bad loss to a class 6 school (Freedom 9-2) and a one goal win over a mid tier class 4 (Loudoun County HS) would tell me they are not going to be that much this year. Right now maybe a top 20 Class 6 but not top 10.

This is an honest question as an outside observer, not a troll... I have been reading all of the posts, and watching this Independence team play and behave for a couple of years now...

Indy parents, do you think that your coaching staff is actually doing a good job for your sons and players? Since you all drank the cool aid and listened to the current coach run out the former staff.

If you don't agree with what is being done, why haven't you brought concerns about the unsafe and unprofessional program being taught and run?

In my personal opinion (which is allowed btw), it is not only endangering your sons development as lacrosse players, but also as young men, learning that there is no consequences for your actions. Not only that, but if you care about kids as a whole, it is also endangering the safety of other boys in the Northern Virginia area.

Just a question... Would love to hear the thoughts of Tiger Parents.

That too bad if that turns out to be the case this spring. I understand that the districts are geographically based and that school is for education but the Concorde District makes a mockery out of the idea of athletic competition. In terms of sports there’s really just Madison in that district. It’s sort of like how Clemson used to be in ACC. Why does one school hold the cards year after year?

Madison doesn't dominate in every sport but definitely in football and lacrosse recently. Madison has been on a tear in boys lacrosse for the last four years. Coach is really good - built out his own club team and got most of the top talent to stay at Madison and not go private. That run is probably over with a ton of graduations. They will continue to be good but will be more beatable this year.

+1, another bystander who has wondered the same thing. I can't imagine that the Indy parents are happy, especially since their own sons are tarred with the reputation that one player and one coach have cultivated for the program.
I doubt Indy parents will respond, though, because even on anonymous board, they would fear retribution to their son.

Its more than just his kid, but not all kids at Indy. Coach DW has conditoned these kids to play reckless and have no focus on sportsmanship and to play the love of the game since he got his hands on them in DS youth. They don't respect their opponents or the refs because its the behavior they have learned from Coach. Nova lacrosse will be better LoCo if he moves on once his kid graduates in two years. It is a popular sentiment in the DS to Indy lineage.
