Probably didn't have enough players. Lots of teams were low on personnel last weekend.

Sure. You can't take anything away from VEL beyond it was lacrosse. There are so many missing pieces from various teams because of fall sports. I it would be like taking away who should be in the World Series by who won the most spring training games. In case you were wondering - Dodgers won the cactus league with a record of 14-7. The Yankees won the Grapefruit league...oh, wait no they didn't they finished spring training with a record of 14-16.

If you want to talk about it. have at it but it means nothing to what goes on 6 months from now.

Agree it means nothing but having watched VEL for the last six years (and there are always kids missing every year) the overall lacrosse talent seems down more than a little bit this year. In Class 6, the usual suspects will still be there in the end - Robinson, Madison, and Battlefield will win their districts again, Langley will be the favorite in Liberty but McLean and Yorktown will be right there. I'm getting the sense that Deep Run thinks they have a shot this year. They are coming up for Fall Brawl and the Turkey Shootout so it will be interesting to get a look at them.

In Class 5, we haven't seen Riverside yet but they are always the favorite and will be again this year. Despite all the drama, Indy will be in the mix and will be one of Riverside's only challengers. Both will be at Turkey Shootout so we will get to see something then, although they likely won't play each other.

That one way to think about it and I would disagree on many levels. While there is some merit to your argument, the statement “can’t take anything” is just wrong.
It tells me what perspective you have of the game and people with other perspectives will take what they need from the fall and use it in the spring.

I'm going to stick to VHSL teams only, PVI winning doesn't really say much about how good they are because VEL is not indicative of the kind of competition they will face in the Spring.

Indy: They are making the big move up to 6A this year. Their team is made up of up a couple of really solid players who were not at every game all fall. All that being said they did not win very many games, and obviously they had there fair share of drama both on the field and in this forum. My final takeaway for them is to cut out all the drama and lack of sportsmanship it only holds your team back.

Madison: Overall pretty good. A lot to make up for after the graduates from their 2024 class, which is a common theme across the top teams in the state. Their offense had looked solid all fall led by a group of good dodging lefty middies. However, something has to give with the goalie play, unlike last year I do not expect what they have in the net to cut it. Otherwise on defense they have looked okay, but Madison often has many defenders gone all fall for football.

Langley: Looked great. Had tough games against both private schools, but won all games against VHSL competition. Played good defense and by far had the best goalie play out of any public school in the Black division. Their offense has a lot of roles to fill, they did alright with the guys they had returning from last year but undoubtedly have a lot more work to do if they want to beat all these teams again in the spring.

Robinson: Looks alright in VEL. They also had questionable goalie play and again had a lot to replace after 2024 losses. Their poles looked very good in the games of theirs I saw, but I know they were missing their best d mids to football which hindered them this fall. The Robinson offense was disappointing to say the least, they lost as many guys as anyone and Coach Curran has a lot of work to do before the spring if they want to make a run like last year.

Yorktown: Not great. My understanding is they had a lot of guys gone for more of the season on defense so I don't want to judge too strong and they have a big role to replace in the net after graduating their guy from last year. The offense did seem to have a lot of their guys and it didn't look good, it seems to be all one guy taking most dodging and the entire offense runs through him. I do not think that is a sustainable offense in the spring, but I am sure coach Beer will figure something out by the spring.

In the end understand that this is just my opinion and you can only take away so much from VEL and fall lacrosse.

Not bad here can agree with most of it.
One note of correction- Independence will NOT be in 6a THIS a year. They are still in 5a for the spring 2025 season. They will swap with Freedom in the 25/26 year starting in the fall.

I will take it. I have to assume that most of the Ireton team didn't show up. There was no way Indy was beating that team at full strength.

My take-
Indy- only team to not lose or win in a blowout. Has some solid pieces, but some players hold them back with attitude
Madison- O seems to reliant on 1 or 2 of players. Questions about goal and maybe D
Langley- seems to be a broken record. Can beat up a lesser team but struggle with better competition.
Robinson- up and down week to week. Maybe be a case of who showed up that game?
Yorktown- again, rely too much on one or two players but not as good as Madison.
You forgot Battlefield- gave up a ton of goals (miss their goalie from last year). System offence can work but need more talent to step up
