OMG guys, this has ACTUALLY become a major thing.

The AP attempted to fact check the issue, published an article saying that Vance had not had sex with a couch, but then had to pull the story, because it was inaccurate... the only thing they could confirm is that he had not written in Hillbilly Elegy that he banged a couch, not that he had never actually had sex with a couch.

They should have just written the article to say "Fact check: it's untrue that Vance wrote that he banged his couch" and this would've just been a one-day funny story, haha, look at what the AP had to write, but this is now in Barbara Streisand territory, it's going to be talked about for a looooong time.
