Why are women so heightist, and then complain when it turns out that a man lied about his height?

Women (and men) are screened by looks, weight, hair, voice, income ... why not height?
It is absolutely a valid prefernence to have. It may mean you never get a date with the person YOU find attractive. Or you may never get a second date with the person you do find attractive because you lied about your height.

Agree with this. Nine pages and no one’s answered OP’s question, “why?”

Because evolutionary biology. Men are viewed by women as providers and protectors. All things being equal, a tall, powerfully built man can bring home more bison meat and is better suited to protect her and her offspring from pterodactyls. Hence the physical attraction to tall men. All things of course are rarely equal.

Attraction is not a choice and as a man I get annoyed when women try to shame me into being attracted to women I’m not. I’m with the ladies on this one and OP you’re making us look bad.

FWIW, I'm shorter than you, and my DH is 6'2", but I didn't pick him thinking about the imaginary kids we might have one day. It just happened that way. I have told DH that if we were both on a dating app, I would've filtered him out due to being too tall. Thankfully, neither of us had a dating profile. We met at work. He's dated short women before; both his LTR before me were with short women. I guess he just likes petite women.

Our kids are above average in height, though.
