Advanced Academic Programs (AAP)
Exactly. |
More proof that these posters have no idea what they’re talking about. TJ only gives service hour cords for graduation. These kids do amazing things; being a national merit finalist (let alone the unimportant commended scholar) does not register as an achievement for these kids. |
| To clarify, they don’t give any other coeds or sashes out. |
What does diversity have to do with slightly late NM commended certificates? |

“We want to recognize students for who they are as individuals, not focus on their achievements”
Isn’t achievements that we make a part of who we are? |
Why would they conflate hard-working, intelligent teens with MAGA shills like Asra? |
| So he thinks grades should be merit based not race based, what a concept!! |
|
Thank you Gov. Youngkin.
This is overt racism. Period. You can recognize students for who they are without penalizing others. The investigation--if found to be as reported, should punish administrators both professionally and personally, including paying damages to those effected, and revoke all teaching and administrative credentials, ensuring they cannot punish students ever again. |
Are you saying that it was asian students who just scored commendable? |
Yes, it's downright racist to forget to hand out these notices for a week. Well, maybe if by racist, you mean absent-minded.

This is full on ridiculous. Equality means giving every single child the same thing REGARDLESS of their need. Children deserve to get what the NEED to succeed. Not everyone is starting from the same place. This is coming from an Asian mother of a child at TJ. |
| Let's change the word 'student' for the word 'athlete'. “We want to recognize ATHLETES for who they are as individuals, not focus on their achievements.” Should the NBA have equal outcomes? |
Education is a public good. It's good for the public to have equally good outcomes. I swear to God, you people with your provincial thinking. How is society served if our schools have suboptimal outcomes? You want to talk about evil? Look at people like you and your revolting way of thinking. |
You must not be very bright, then. There's plenty of bias in the way math, science and English are taught and tested. Plenty of it. Look at the word problems, for example. For years there was bias in terms of who is good enough to learn these subjects (still is). Here's a pretty simple explainer, though, of cultural bias in testing: https://study.com/learn/lesson/test-bias-types-examples-cultural.html This assumes you actually want to correct your ignorance on the subject. If you wish to remain willfully ignorant, I can't help you. But perhaps you should sit the rest of this conversation out since you have nothing of value to share. |
