OP here. Some of this has been helpful for understanding the dynamic at Rosedale - particularly the archived Washington Post article about the other buyer, and the Rosedale Board member's post about how the waitlist prioritized close neighbors (although I'm not sure what the perimeter is for that). I'm not sure if some of the defensiveness here is by people who actually live in the area or just trolls, but it does seem consistent with the attitudes on the CP listserv.

Considering that the park is often empty, I do hope that the Conservancy will think more about whether it's a welcoming environment for all and whether some policies could be adjusted to encourage more use of the park (by both dog and non-dog owners). Macomb and the Cathedral Grounds, for example, are very well used by a variety of people.

Macomb Playground and the Cathedral Close are not open to off-leash dogs, ever. And people (whether members or not) are welcome at Rosedale at any time during daylight hours.

Your original statement was that 8 of 9 commissioners are "apartment dwellers." You were wrong. You also may not understand that apartments are different from condos and co-ops. Apartment dwellers are tenants, not homeowners. Of those addresses, three are single family homes, four are condos/co-ops, and two are apartments.

CP Smart Growth also got on the ANC redistricting panel and then pushed to split up the neighborhood. They succeeded in part and, having redrawn the ANC districts, now they are running their own slate for the ANC and even fundraising for some of them online.
