My DC and a friend’s DC applied about the same date, and friend’s DC was accepted last week and mine has not heard yet Both applied to arts & sciences. Also, friend’s DC supposedly was given automatic admission to a few grad programs they had not applied to as part of their acceptance - is that the same as the honors college?

I think it’s unrelated to the Honors program and just an incentive to attend Pitt. Our DC was also given merit aid for the grad program, but has heard nothing on merit for undergrad (which makes me nervous).

Good luck to your DC! Hope they receive good news soon!

The automatic admissions to graduate programs is based on test scores and grades. Each program is different and has different thresholds — you can look at them on Pitt website. Honors college is different and comes out in the spring. Merit aid is different from both. I don’t think they tell you about merit aid for grad school when then give the automatic admission.

Agree with everything you say except that DC was promised $5k per year merit aid toward MPH. No word yet on undergrad merit though!

Do you indicate somewhere which grad programs are of interest to you? How does Pitt know which programs to grant you “automatic admissions” to?

Question for the knowledgeable: DD applied to Pitt through the common app. She is submitting test scores. Does Pitt require that she send a score report from the college board or is Pitt willing to review them through the common app (confirmed if accept and enroll of course)? She filled out the SRAR and does not see that anything is missing in the portal, but the Pitt website seems to say they want to receive an official score report before reviewing the application.

TIA

They want official sent to them, as part of their application requirements.

My kid applied to Dietrich 6-7 weeks ago- was admitted a few weeks ago, but still hasn’t gotten any information on merit. I’m worried this is a sign they won’t get any based on these responses.

DS admitted 10/17 in school of Computing. 4.5/1560. Visited campus. Participated in Virtual info session. Haven't heard anything about merit either.

Has anyone heard on merit for CS yet? DS has not. Can’t remember acceptance date now. It’s been a few weeks.

For anyone visited the UPITT CS building, did the building seems really small? Not a place to study?

I think most of the buildings seem really dated.
