Pitt decisions

Hi, my daughter received notice that her application went to review? Does anyone know when she should receive a decision? Thank you!

DC just received notice today (accepted!) I posted on another thread that they applied first week of August and had been nervously waiting. It became a top choice after our summer visit. Good luck!

Did your HS also already send transcript and counselor letter? DS application is in, but has a new counselor so no letter yet, and we are waiting for a summer class to hit the transcript before sending it. Was wondering if Pitt will review with only test scores.

To be honest, I’m not sure. DC was in charge and I think they did self-reporting grades per Pitt’s prompt? I don’t think letters are required so the school must have reviewed without because those most definitely haven’t been sent or even started!

Pitt doesn't require recommendations letter and you self report grades.

My DD applied last year in September. She was accepted four days later and received a merit award two weeks or so after that. High stats (not sure if that made a difference in timing but I suspect it did).

With no recommendations letter also? Even for merit awards?

How do we figure out which schools doesn’t need recommendation letters? Is this info on common app?

Not the quoted pp but many of the larger schools don’t require them.

The college websites list the information.

Yes, no letter needed for Pitt. They don't want them. You need to follow directions on the app and only give what they want.

+1. Your child should be tracking what is required of each of their schools applying to. If the school doesn't want it, don't send it.

She asked teachers for recs in March or April of Junior year and received one of them over the summer. The second letter she received in September of senior year. (I don’t remember which schools she applied to wanted letters and which didn’t.)
