I think most of the buildings seem really dated.

I find the buildings...unique. Walking through the tunnels of the academic buildings near the Towers reminds me of an underground DC metro station.

I thought the same thing! The escalators are made by the same company.

Dated? Unique is more accurate! Have you been in the Cathy (the Cathedral of Learning)? The country rooms, where your kids have actual classes, is AMAZING.

+1 my kid is there and loves to study in the modernly equipped rooms on the upper floors.

DC got $5000/yr 2 weeks after acceptance, a little disappointed.

Anonymous wrote:Question for the knowledgeable: DD applied to Pitt through the common app. She is submitting test scores. Does Pitt require that she send a score report from the college board or is Pitt willing to review them through the common app (confirmed if accept and enroll of course)? She filled out the SRAR and does not see that anything is missing in the portal, but the Pitt website seems to say they want to receive an official score report before reviewing the application.

TIA

They want official sent to them, as part of their application requirements.

DP: TIA for next year

The quantum of merit differs by school. Ever since it separated from the engineering school, I don’t think CS offers that much any longer.

5k is a probably at the higher end for CS, short of the Chancellor’s scholarships which are largely instate candidates.

I don’t think anyone who kid received $20k/yr has posted their kids’ stats!

What are your kid’s stats?

Mine got $10k/yr merit in Dietrich with a 4.0 uw and 35 ACT, typical sports and clubs.

Any recent rejections?

I haven't read about one rejection. Is this considered a back-up school? Why does everyone get in? My DD is a junior and I love the city of Pittsburgh and curious about the college. She is not a high stat student but solid B student with lots of EC's.

It is very popular because (1) it is a good school academically, (2) nice sized city and good school spirit, (3) rolling admissions so you can have a solid acceptance early, and (4) relatively reasonable out of state cost and it gives merit aid. The have a good honors college and give a decent number of full scholarships for really strong students. The acceptance rate has gone down a bit but still over 50%. Clearly there are rejections, most people don’t talk about them here.

They do and have this year deferred the decision (to see first semester grades) and also admitted to an alternate campus but not the main campus
