Overdone. You dodged a bullet there. It's like the new Aiden in the uppercrust set, soon to be co-opted by the Walmarts.

It's the best! - mom to a Molly

Find an elaborate Greek name for which Daisy is a good nickname.

* Daisy is marguerita in italian (sp)

Claire because we grew up in the 80s and hence the movie line "Claire is a fat girl's name."

Eleanor is "too old fashioned."

I was high on Eleanor/Ellie too. Didn’t register with my spouse.

There are at least a dozen ellies in my DC's grade.

DH vetoed Zelda and Catherine for girls.

For boys he vetoed Xavier and Elliott.

In retrospect, I’m glad we didn’t go with Elliott, but whenever I hear of a little Catherine or Xavier, I have a wistful twinge. I’ve yet to meet a Zelda in real life.

Anonymous wrote:The name of my mom and my sister. I discussed these before we got married. When it came time to name our daughter, my husband said he just didn’t like my mom and sister and didn’t want those names.

On the one hand I am annoyed about this because I really liked the names and thought we had an agreement, but on the other hand, I don’t blame him at all. I love them but they’re not exactly model individuals.

The person who is actually pregnant and giving birth has naming rights.

I disagree and I'm the one who was pregnant and gave birth. Why would you want to use a name your partner hates?

Why would I use a name that I hate or name a child after someone I cannot stand.

There are three Ellie/Ella/Elianna in my 3 yr olds preschool class of 16 kids.

They did you a favor. Sounds like a pair of Rottweilers.

James. DH was vehemently opposed to James. He had no personal association with the name but just hates it.

I still love that name.

Calliope. I love it, and it would have fit our DD perfectly. H was worried people would pronounce it incorrectly….and he picked a name everyone gets wrong anyway 😆
