What name did you want but got vetoed by your partner?

Benjamin. DH grew up with a family with a “Little Ben” and a “Big Ben” and the name still makes him laugh.

I really wanted to name our daughter Mary after both my grandmother and my husband's grandmother as well as (mostly because) I just love the name itself. My husband thought Mary is too religious for him so we went with Marie instead. I love Marie too but Mary was the one I really wanted.

Mia because it's "too popular"
Which is true - each of my kids has two Mias in their class.

Desmond.

I really pushed for Camilla- Cami. Husband vetoed and I'm glad in retrospect because the name we finally agreed upon suits her much better.

I vetoed Jacob — no reason, just not my favorite name.

Cameron for a girl. DH thought I was crazy.

Rachel because it's his ex-girlfriend's name

Claire because we grew up in the 80s and hence the movie line "Claire is a fat girl's name."

Eleanor is "too old fashioned."

My husband vetoed Chloe because it reminds him of cloaca 🙄

Elias
Ezekiel
Trey

All very different, but all vetoed by my husband. I was most sad by Trey. Growing up I was really close with my great grandmother and I wanted to and our first child after her. We are talking about one more kid and I told him I will name our last after my great grandmother.

Donna. My mother’s name. DW just kept chanting “Donna Martin graduates”. I was raised abroad and had no clue what she was talking about.

I have love the name Jennie all my life. Unfortunately DH’s last name starts with “Jeni” so it was way too rhyming and awful.

Strangely, my son’s nickname on his ball team is Jennie!

Peter is a really old reference to penis. No one under the age of about 70 would get it.
