Mine was Laura. Simple, elegant, and timeless. Always my favorite name.
Unfortunately, DH had a horrible mean girl in his neighborhood growing up named Lori who tortured his sister and Laura was his absolute veto. Anyone else? |
| Piper. DH said no because it was “too white”. Ugh. |
|
The name of my mom and my sister. I discussed these before we got married. When it came time to name our daughter, my husband said he just didn’t like my mom and sister and didn’t want those names.
On the one hand I am annoyed about this because I really liked the names and thought we had an agreement, but on the other hand, I don’t blame him at all. I love them but they’re not exactly model individuals. |
Oh and by the way the names were Jennifer and Abigail. I was named after my grandmother and I liked the tradition, and thought Jenna would be a cute nickname. And I still think Abigail is such a beautiful name (and Abby a cute nickname). |
| Peter, because we knew two people in grad school named Peter. One now lives in another state and the other is in another country, because grad school isn't forever, and I had a deceased relative I wanted to honor, but nooooo. |
Exactly the same with Thomas but it was just one guy DH hated in my program. |
Peters always get made fun of. maybe he was trying to spare your child |
| Harold |

My husband must have been a miserable child because virtually every name I loved reminded him of someone he didn’t like in grade school.
James, Matthew, Christopher - all vetoed. Mary, Heather, Catherine - nope! There were others I don’t remember. Finally we found two names for which there was no association other than literary. |
Not our experience. I have a brother and a son named Peter. Their name is not something that resulted in them being made fun of. |
| Theo. Loved it. Still do. Firm rejection from spouse. |
Haha poor guy. |
Not my experience either. DH is named Peter and I just asked him if his name got him teased and he said no, never. Why would it? |
|
Beatrice. Love everything about it.
Dh loved Olivia. He thought it was such a unique name and he’d never heard it before. He sees the error of his ways now |
DH was the same with Sophia. Luckily we talked him out of it. |
