What are your kids saying about how many students/teachers masked today (3/1)?

Pretty amazing - you have the kids doing something (wearing a mask) that few would want to do and that in it's current form (cloth masks, fit etc) is almost completely pointless.

You say this over and over as if that will make it true.

The only ones who believe the CDC?

Too bad the liberals/democrats/progressives disregard the experts and their science

Exactly. Notice the only nasty comments are towards these kids and coming from the democrats.

So I can’t wait to see what conservatives will latch onto to next. Masks are no longer an issue. No one was mean to Suzy for not wearing a mask. Despite swearing up and down how they would be picked on and victimized. So what next? What will the “oh no the liberals are after us/ruining our schools/we hate FCPS” crowd complain about next!

Hmm. My kid goes there too and said it was about 50/50. Teachers and students.

Do you have strong opinions about masks? Your kids may be tilting reality to what they think you want to the case. Or what will get you to stop talking about it. Or they are really bad at estimating (which most people are).

Checked with kid and reported wrong here. More than half were masked. Sorry for the mistake!

Can teachers really segregate the unmasked kids?

Kid1 said in a few classes the teachers made the unmasked kids sit in seats clustered together. He said the seats were moved to the farthest part of the room.

My high schooler says that the worst of the judgmental remarks come from other students, not the teachers. Parents: please tell your kids to wear their mask if they desire and to respect others' decisions not to.

No they can’t. I’m a teacher and that direction from the county was clear.

Just FYI: you are a busybody. Mind your own business. No doubt your kid is exactly the type lecturing others about needing to wear a mask - because that's all you talk about at home.

Yup. I wouldn’t assume the scenario described above with 80/84 kids masked is out of desire. The peer pressure is huge and there were nasty things being said in social media too. My high schoolers don’t wear a mask in normal life but still are at school despite their siblings and teacher parents not wearing one.

+2
My DD is ready to stop wearing a mask, but apparently there are group texts shaming those who dare to go without one. So completely unsurprising, considering what their parents are no doubt like.

Kids have been in masks for 2 years and now al of us a sudden Covid is gone. Let them do what they want at their own pace. These kids have had a rough two years so can down- they will eventually stop wearing them but just let them figure this out

True for adults too. I’m not wearing mine but I was one of a few. I don’t know what these people do out in real life about masking but I expect they might need a few more weeks to feel comfortable or wear it until the last day.

Please stop with the trolling. This absolutely didn’t happen.

HS Teacher. 15-20% of my students were unmasked today.
