+1 and there are many great programs at UF. Not sure why we are even debating whether or not UF belongs amongst the Top 5 Publics or if Top 5 Publics are not ALL ranked by USNWR in 6 of the 9 slots between #20-28? It’s a fantastic, HIGHLY competitive school, regardless is public or private. Privates all have unique instate admissions components that may drag down the stats, but anywhere in the 20’s is soooooo hard to get into, especially in this admissions environment. Hats off (and even green hats off tie the leprechaun from earlier). All good stuff

Sorry misspoke- Publics have unique instate admissions considerations and UF averages in ALL test scores (they are required). Unlike other publics that only consider test optionally and only those with high test scores are reporting.

CS is just one discipline where UF is not in the same league as Berkeley, UCLA, or Michigan. Top 5 public is a misnomer. Florida doesn’t compete with these big 3 publics, the ones with an international reputation. Try to overtake UNC and UVA before you can consider yourself among the top elite publics. You may get there one day, but you haven’t arrived yet Gatorbaters.

I just perused the undergraduate rankings for UF at USNWR. As I suspected, Florida is no where near the top for engineering, business, quality of undergraduate teaching, or best value schools.

UF and UNC are now literally tied in the rankings. UF is on the rise. UF has arrived! Go Gators!

This isn’t SEC football. Although I do agree that all the top southern publics are about equal, to each other.

Yet I know two UF grads working west coast tech jobs. One is at Microsoft and one is at Netflix.

Gainesville resident here. The ban on the above cheer is very controversial. Even the African American Gator football players use the cheer. The African American football players did not agree with the ban. No one, black or white, was aware that it was racist.

Yes. by the way, cracker is a derogatory term for poor whites.

Blacks were never fed to alligators as "gator bait." The origin of the racism comes from postcards from over 100 years ago that pictured black infants on beaches with alligators.
