Same. Vaxed, boosted, and I'm hoping to (1) not catch it before an omicron booster is made available to me; or (2) catch it before my next international trip in April. I'm not doing anything to make (1) happen. It's not worth it, and I'm not sure it'll happen before April. (2) is fine with me. I'm sure it'll suck, but whatever. With the R0 so high, and leaky (though excellent, amazing, and life-saving) vaccines, herd immunity is mathematically impossible. (R0 - 1)/ R0 / VE. Call me an armchair epidemiologist if you want. I get it, most people are stupid, math is hard, and it's easier to lash out at people on the internet than it is to believe the hard truth. In the United States, we won't even get close. |
Actually, a lot of people are looking at the lack of scientific rationale for these policies and refusing to play along. Despite Fauci's protests, just because he says something doesn't make it science. Masks, boosters, lock-downs... |
Yes. I’m pp who went to the show. My family and I have done everything we could. We didn’t see family for a year. We got all the vaccinations and boosters. There’s nothing else I can do to protect ourselves except wearing a mask, which doesn’t seem to really be that effective, except to the extent MCPS actually follows through with their guidance that masked people don’t have to quarantine (and now that DS is vaccinated that doesn’t matter anyway). Moco- stop changing the goalposts and let us choose to wear masks or not! |
I understand you don't want to wear protective masks. A thin cloth mask is a lot more comfortable than an N95. But if you're really that worried about COVID, and think masks are the solution rather than vaccines, then I would think you'd really want the protection of an N95. Very young kids don't wear masks. Preschoolers often don't wear masks meaningfully. And there is an increasing number of adults dropping masks despite the mandate being in place. Get some real N95s. They will probably help your anxiety. You'll get used to the discomfort, like health care workers have. |
Sounds good. Let's tie mask mandates to bars/restaurants- the mask mandate lifts when restaurants and bars are open, and is enacted when bars/restaurants are closed. How much support for mask mandates and bar/restaurant closures do you think you'd see? |

I just realized that the denominator for the 85% Covid vaccination rate is not "total population eligible for vaccination" but actually overall "total population" and factors in children under 5 years old who can't even get the vaccine.
Based on the latest CDC data, we're already at 87.1% vaccination rate among the total population eligible for vaccination. It's when toddlers are factored in that the rate goes down to 81.7%. Fully Vaccinated Total 858,781 % of Total Population 81.7% Population ≥ 5 Years of Age 858,764 % of Population ≥ 5 Years of Age 87.1% Population ≥ 12 Years of Age 834,231 % of Population ≥ 12 Years of Age 93.6% Population ≥ 18 Years of Age 758,380 % of Population ≥ 18 Years of Age 93.8% Population ≥ 65 Years of Age 167,438 % of Population ≥ 65 Years of Age 95% |
No. We are not going to "let you have the choice" and the mandate is not being lifted. Sorry you're sad. |
exactly.. MoCo is moving the goal post. I cannot stand Elrich. He's terrible for MoCo. |
Now this comment is truly laughable. I'm in the arts and I have hundreds of good friends. Now stop whining and just wear your mask like a big girl. |
I already wear a good mask. Enjoy continuing to wear yours. |
NP but honestly I’ve stopped wearing my mask indoors. I put it under my chin and no one says a word. So I guess enjoy wearing your N95! |
| Amazing the blood in the streets here on the other side of the river without the mask mandate. The crematories can't keep up with the carnage! |

Anyone see the photos from the Council breakfast where there only put on masks for Instagram after a filling a huge ballroom maskless? (they were eating and we all know covid magically spares anyone stuffing their fat face).
Even the council knows that the very minor benefit of masks (maybe 10 percent) isn’t worth the hassle for the vaccinated and healthy. |
