Uh huh, and what if at some point another US general unilaterally decided that Biden isn't up to the task?

Oh of course -that- would be totally different and unacceptable.

Typical DCUM...

But there is your clue, but you just don’t see it. Biden will never have to face such a situation since he is not an unhinged selfish ego maniac that would likely commit such a heinous act.

China will invade Taiwan and Biden/Milley will do nothing.

What would you have them do? China has nukes. Do you want to start another armed conflict?

Yes. We would I think move to defend Taiwan. A real shooting war. It will happen in the next thirty years.

No. If we did we would get our butts kicked. Our carrier groups are obsolete and vulnerable. Similar to the battleship at the start of ww2.

China knows they would lose if we defend Taiwan. The question is, do they think our withdrawal from a country we invaded is a signal that we wouldn't defend an ally. There's a poster on this thread who seems to have drawn that conclusion. Is China smarter than that poster?

Not only did we withdraw, we accepted defeat by the Taliban (who happen to be friendly with China).

But when I said China would invade and the US would do nothing, I was not saying that because of Afghanistan.

Oh. I see. Thank you for your wisdom.

You are welcome.

I don't see why making a phone call to avoid nuclear war is a fireable offense, or cause for court martial.

+ 1,000. So sick of being gaslighted by MAGA idiots.

Yeah if someone had poisoned Trump you would probably call them a hero too?

What does stopping a possible war have to do with poisoning Trump? Nobody tried to poison Trump.

Punishment for treason and murder is the same.

You can try to "stop war" by talking to enemies behind your leader's back or you can try to make your leader incapable of leading.

China is not our wartime enemy. Maybe they will be in the future but they're not right now.

Why is this so hard to understand?

Good grief. It was a planned call with a lot of different people on it, including Acting Sec. Miller's right hand. Miller is lying if he says he didn't know about it. The reports and transcripts are semi-public and certainly he would have known of it at the time.

Tbh, it sounds like Miller forgot. It was a busy time and there was a lot going on, transitioning and dealing with the insurrection fallout and managing the president. Understandable.

So this was all a bunch of BS. There wasn’t going to be any war and Milley had no reason to commit treason?

Well no. Reread the Nixon comparison.

It wasn’t treason.

Why do people have to parrot everything that Trump says? If he was mentally stable, the call never would have needed to be made.

Milley wasn't the only one who thought Trump was unstable and might start something. Haspel and others did too. Wake up. The common denominator isn't Milley, it's Trump. And they were in daily meetings with Trump, they were much closer to the situation than you or any of the pundits you follow who are trying to downplay and gaslight.

Once again Trump's actions get deflected on to everyone else, who should be held accountable, but not Trump.

This. If republicans had elected a mentally stable president in the first place, none of this would have happened.

But we don’t live in that world. There is nothing good left of the GOP, no positive force, nothing to counterbalance the horror of the current day GOP. No matter what Trump does, or whatever comes after Trump (and it will be worse than Trump is, somehow) does, they will support it. They will regurgitate the lies and nonsense they’ve been fed.

Yes but moderate Democrats want to reach out and work with these people.
