Has this guy asked them why they didn’t leave in April when the Biden admin told them to?

From his reporting- lots of reasons. The one he hears over and over is that family members (kids, spouses, parents) were not citizens or didn’t assist our military and they were working to get permission for them to come. The state department has been no help.

DP. I mean, so? They could have left and they didn't.

And we're supposed to be mad at Biden for this? Or the military? Or State? ...Why?

Confusion. Remember, Biden was telling the world that the Afghani government would hold. That Taliban would not take over. Just days before it fell.

How did State contact the Americans? Emails? Texts? Phone calls. What did they tell them and how did they tell them to leave?

Did they say, "for your safety, you should leave NOW?"

So you need the government to hold your hand? Being told to leave isn’t enough?

The question is: what did they say? Did they really tell them to leave--while Biden was saying the Afghani government was stable?
And, did people actually get the messages?

General Milley was deeply impressive during his testimony.

Please this whole thread is about the wrong thing. Two weeks of a twenty year war. The whole retreat was indicative of the defeat that became reality years ago. The ONLY reason it was shocking was because the military had been lying to everyone for years. America’s defeat in this war, like Vietnam, was deserved and we have only the military to blame.
Biden ripped the bandaid off the sordid mess and forced the generals and Pentagon to face the consequences of having failed America.

Whatever. The Army for more than a decade lied about the Afghan government “being stable”.

Then why did Biden lie to the American people on national TV about his role in the decision making?

from my thread:

Now released to the press. And it's pretty damning.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/milley-resignation-lett...afayette-square-154956873.html

"The events of the last couple weeks have caused me to do deep soul-searching," Milley wrote, "and I can no longer faithfully support and execute your orders as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. It is my belief that you were doing great and irreparable harm to my country. I believe that you have made a concerted effort over time to politicize the United States military. I thought that I could change that. I’ve come to the realization that I cannot, and I need to step aside and let someone else try to do that."

"All men and women are created equal, no matter who you are, whether you are white or Black, Asian, Indian, no matter the color of your skin, no matter if you’re gay, straight or something in between," he wrote. "It doesn’t matter if you’re Catholic, Protestant, Muslim, Jew, or choose not to believe. None of that matters. It doesn’t matter what country you came from, what your last name is — what matters is we’re Americans. We’re all Americans. That under these colors of red, white, and blue — the colors that my parents fought for in World War II — means something around the world. It’s obvious to me that you don’t think of those colors the same way I do. It’s obvious to me that you don’t hold those values dear and the cause that I serve."

Milley added: "[I]t is my deeply held belief that you’re ruining the international order, and causing significant damage to our country overseas" by kowtowing to the kinds of "fascism" and "extremism" that America fought against in World War II.

"You don’t understand what the war was all about," Milley concluded. "In fact, you subscribe to many of the principles that we fought against. And I cannot be a party to that. It is with deep regret that I hereby submit my letter of resignation."

But sure, the military leaders love Trump. Just not this one, I guess.

Juxtaposed to the criminal general who does support Trump -- M. Flynn.

Yep! The Army failed the American people and the Afghans through its decades of lies. Can’t wait to see what the monument for the Afghan war looks like - a colonel sitting behind a computer building PowerPoint slides is a good bet.

But he didn’t resign! He just sat back and watched the destruction (specifically referring to 1/6).

He kept the military out of it. Trump was counting on military and law enforcement being fascists. Milley got the military to stand down.
