General Milley

Just step back for a second and realize how amazing it is that the chairman of our Joint Chiefs of Staff as well as all the others in the room felt the need to do this. What does this say about Trump? Trumpers, you really need to do some soul searching. It shows how close we really were to the brink.

There was an attempted coup on January 6th so I don't know why any of this is surprising. Seems kind of like the bare minimum.

Uh huh, and what if at some point another US general unilaterally decided that Biden isn't up to the task?

Oh of course -that- would be totally different and unacceptable.

Typical DCUM...

But there is your clue, but you just don’t see it. Biden will never have to face such a situation since he is not an unhinged selfish ego maniac that would likely commit such a heinous act.

China will invade Taiwan and Biden/Milley will do nothing.

They will invade; I do not think we will do nothing. China would bankrupt itself in a month if there were global sanctions and a freeze on all US money or property owned by the Chinese. Global economy would get quiet for a bit but we can survive that. China can't. Also why we are giving Australia sub tech.

What would you have them do? China has nukes. Do you want to start another armed conflict?

Yes. We would I think move to defend Taiwan. A real shooting war. It will happen in the next thirty years.

No. If we did we would get our butts kicked. Our carrier groups are obsolete and vulnerable. Similar to the battleship at the start of ww2.

And you think that China's navy is better?

China knows they would lose if we defend Taiwan. The question is, do they think our withdrawal from a country we invaded is a signal that we wouldn't defend an ally. There's a poster on this thread who seems to have drawn that conclusion. Is China smarter than that poster?

A wee bit melodramatic.

No, it seems about right. DP.

Not only did we withdraw, we accepted defeat by the Taliban (who happen to be friendly with China).

But when I said China would invade and the US would do nothing, I was not saying that because of Afghanistan.

It’s funny that Americans think China is itching to fight wars. They are the only major power that doesn’t go around invading countries. They use their economic power to get their way. They are much better at capitalism than all the capitalist countries.

This. They reserve their violence for their own citizens.

Yeah if someone had poisoned Trump you would probably call them a hero too?
