As noted in title…I would like to tone up and lose 5 pounds in 5 weeks. Mid-40’s and about 7 pounds overweight. Do you think I can get toned in 5 weeks and lose a bit of belly without starving myself? Is it possible to lift weights and see a change in that short of a time period? Going to train for 10k in 5 weeks also |
If you do, it's just water weight |
No. Find clothes that make you feel good. |
Weight Watchers or Keto. |
Dropping a pound a week is a very legit goal. Clean up your diet, amp up your exercise, add in strength training (body weight or free weights). Pay particular attention to abs, arms and shoulders.
It’s old and not without issues, but Jillian Michaels’ “30 Day Shred” series (available on YouTube) is great for this sort of thing. |
You won’t be starving but it might feel like it at first. Cut out sugar and empty carbs. Eat vegetables and protein. Lift some weights. A pound a week is very doable just stay focused and make sure you drink enough water (or whatever your low cal beverage of choice is). |
I just did this. Priortize protein and fiber and up your water intake. Don't eat anything after 6pm. Eliminate alcohol and processed foods. Not sustainable long term but I lost 8 pounds in 4 weeks by doing this. (I am 5'10 and 170). Felt great for an event where I needed to be filmed while speaking to a large group. |
I think you can. I have the same goal for a cruise. I'm 45 have been working out the last 2 months and limiting junk food. I lost 3-4 lbs. I know its not a lot, but my belly measures 1 inch less and have more muscles which is increasing my libido. So thee are non scale victories too. |
Thanks all for responses. I’d like to feel good and not slovenly. Sounds achievable! |
You can lose the weight in 5 weeks easily. You can’t “tone up” (ie, build muscle) in 5 weeks though. Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t workout, just means you shouldn’t expect any visible results in that timeframe. |
You can absolutely lose 1-2 pounds a week. Focus on your diet and cut out whatever you can- do not drink your calories.
I’d suggest body weight strength training classes like on Peloton for toning up, but you won’t see much difference in a month- but you will feel it and be more confident. |
A woman in her 40s who only has 7 lbs to lose is not going to drop 1-2 lbs a week! If she was very overweight, she would, but these are the hard pounds to lose. |
I guess it depends on her current diet and movement. If you are eating a lot and drinking wine every night, making dietary changes can absolutely lead to quick weight changes. However, if you are already eating pretty clean and are already active, then it would be hard to budge that weight. |
It depends on what you mean by “seven pounds overweight.” What is your current height and weight? |
Yes when I modeled I would do this for shoots, usually with just ~2 weeks. Jumpstart the fat blast on a weekend eating tomato-based cabbage soup with some fruit and avocados on the side. Then just make sure yo eat no meat, cheese, or bread. This is what works for MY body 😅
Oatmeal with flax, fruit Greek yogurt Rice and lentils on top of salads Roasted veg and tofu on top of salad Nut, fruit, veg for snacks Whole plants as much as possible. Try resistance band training, also 'Move with Nicole' body sculpting with light weights on YouTube. I have done 30 day shred and it great also if your looking to lost more fat. When I cut weight, I am already trim and workout a lot so just cutting carbs helps me to lose the fat, I go more for the body sculpting to make the muscle tone more prominent. Hope it helps! |
