National team takes a loss 0-2, and go...

MX played with more heart and wanted it more. Loved to see it.

If you don't care about the team now, is it just pretending to care come world cup?

Yes. That's how soccer in the US works. Every 2 years, we care about whichever national team is playing. After they are eliminated, there is a week or so of celebration or recrimination, and then we stop caring until the next world cup.

You win some, you lose some. And some in this dumb-ass sport appear to end in ties for some crazy reason.

I told you 8 years ago.

As a woman that started playing travel soccer in the mid70s, with some of the original USWNT players--we just had a 30 year start.

Not only did other countries not allow women to play, futbol/soccer was all-male. Today, even many of the stadiums for the USMNT are all men. And are the pubs surrounding them, etc. It was fascinating to waltz right into the ladie's loo and be the only one there while there was a line halfway around the stadium for the men's.

The countries that know how to develop players AND identify talent have been doing for over a century. They began applying that to their women's teams about 8-10 years ago. They are catching up and surpassing. You see a lot of the top women players have to go to Europe to play too.

*stadiums for the foreign pro teams--not USMNT

The world cup later this year for U20/U17 will be telling. U17's seem to be talked about a lot but how they do against higher competition will tell a lot.

Other countries have civic minded clubs (or at least clubs that pretend to be civic minded) footing the bill. Somehow, I don't see DC united investing in women's and girl's facilites to rival Man City or Barcelona

Neither do I, but thats how other countries will always be better than the US when it comes to a global sport like this. I highly doubt we will be able to generate that kind of revenue at a professionl level similar to the likes of teams that play in EPL or La Liga

Look at how crazy the Youth Travel programs are locally. Not development, win at all cost. The end result is all the clubs are blowing up because everyone is seeking ECNL or top league play but nobody is truly qualified for it. When you have a group of national players who are all about how many goals they score individually, you don't win games. PERIOD. The style of play in the US has descended into chaos and will only get worse with the current USYNT leadership.

Probably an ECNL parent too
