Discrimination against Asians

Please..White person accusing a minority asian/immigrant population of apartheid while pushing a devious policy to displace them to create a white majority school. amazing divide and rule strategy. Irony just died! we are in full support of access to educational opportunities. I just can't support your lazy, half-baked, devious solution that in the long term damages everyone. We understand change and have seen more change than most. That's not the issue.

Yes, South Africa tried it and how did it turn out?

Just in case we needed further confirmation some here support educational apartheid (though you’ve already made that clear).

He's an absolute legend. He got kids to love math, and they were and are huge fans of his. Even kids who weren't in his classes have great memories of him. He's been teaching in Fairfax County since 1972

wow...thanks for the article on Vern. I am not from VA. Had no idea who he was. Seems like quite the math teacher.

Listen, pp, everyone on here knows you are just one person because you can’t seem to figure out how to quote a post. Your new text is supposed to go at the bottom. Because you don’t know that, it’s clear to all of us that your posts don’t represent a groundswell of public opinion. They are just from one person.

Can you please respond on the Vern Williams question?

All they care for is to appear woke while furthering their own self-interest. Hypocrites.

You could always form a new Pity Party.

You know that we were instrumental in turning Virginia blue, and you know that this election is balanced on the edge of a knife. You know what a hot button topic this is for Asians all over the US - it’s the one thing that pushes them away. The only reason you couldn’t have waited until after the election to do this is because you were focused on your personal political gain. These are lifelong democrats voting republican in this crucial election because of you - this is on your head. Yes we see you alright.

People who go on tirades screaming reverse discrimination when black people are no longer excluded voting republican- I'm shocked

there was an election- people ran for school board on platforms that included increasing URM representation at TJ. They won and now they are going about doing what they said they would do
Yes, we notice that you’re resorting to rhetoric rather than explaining why you couldn’t wait on this hot button topic until after the election

I missed this post because you'd put your answer inside the quotes, so it wasn't immediately evident that it was an answer. Increasing URM representation is a laudable goal. Quota systems are not. Why are you unwilling to listen to Vern Williams - he's the best STEM educator VA's produced.

Politician PP, you happy now? It is this dismissiveness of any concerns other than your personal self-interest that's leading to this ghastly election fiasco.

What are you babbling on about? Do you really think the election was a referendum on TJ or discrimination against Asians? That is delusional. And in any event Biden's margin of victory in Fairfax County was 42%, compared to Clinton's 36% margin in 2016.

Vern Williams is entitled to his views, but a Trump supporter in his 70s who has benefited financially from the TJ test prep industry for years doesn't necessarily speak for most residents.

The fact that you would dismiss outright the opinions of an man who has given his life to educating students, and very well at that, speaks volumes. He's done more for children in Fairfax County than you, and at greater cost to himself, than you can ever hope to accomplish.

PP said Williams was entitled to his opinion. He still doesn't get to call the shots at his former employer.

Special congratulations to the 17 plaintiffs, mostly Asian, who filed a lawsuit against FCPS today. This should persuade the School Board that TJ more trouble than it’s worth and the better course is to stop operating TJ as a Governor’s School.

[By the way, the assertion in this lawsuit that the middle school plaintiffs were “highly likely” to have gained admission to TJ had a test been administered is a good reflection of the arrogance and assumptions about “giftedness” regularly on display. Perhaps they left out the part about how that likelihood also may have hinged in paying generous sums to Curie, Math Reasoning, etc.]

Now you're blaming tiny summer enrichment camps like Math Reasoning, who only have room to take a few select prepared students? What does this have anything to do with TJ or the lawsuit ??

You speak like the fake-mother who wanted to cut the baby in two in the Bible, so the real mother won't have the baby by herself.

There you go with your racist innuendo again with your implication that because they are Asian their "giftedness" hinges on them taking prep classes. Well done!

Real question, Is FCPS and the dumbocrats willing to go to court over this? This will go all the way to SC if necessary..
