Discrimination against Asians

[By the way, the assertion in this lawsuit that the middle school plaintiffs were “highly likely” to have gained admission to TJ had a test been administered is a good reflection of the arrogance and assumptions about “giftedness” regularly on display. Perhaps they left out the part about how that likelihood also may have hinged in paying generous sums to Curie, Math Reasoning, etc.]

There you go with your racist innuendo again with your implication that because they are Asian their "giftedness" hinges on them taking prep classes. Well done!

Real question, Is FCPS and the dumbocrats willing to go to court over this? This will go all the way to SC if necessary..

Right. The case would be moot if FCPS just decides to cease seeking designation of TJ as a Governor's School. That is precisely where some of you are pushing them, whether you realize it or not.

Court of Appeals upholds Harvard's admissions policies and rejects the claims of discrimination by Asian-Americans.

That's timely. I guess it is on to the SC. Would be nice to get this resolved one way or the other and get some guidance on what public schools can and cannot do to shut everyone up for awhile.

There you go, calling people racist because they point out genuine and visible cultural differences. Racist is saying something like, "everything that comes from the continent is an invasive species that wreaks havoc on the US ecosystem ( ex., Murder hornets, Burmese pythons, and Berkely)"; see the difference? We are all trying to figure out how to give our children the best education possible, within the public system. There are going to be tensions, but hiding from the truth and calling people racist for pointing it out does no one any good.

Many of us, including Asian Americans like myself, have been saying that the argument that they were using could not prove discrimination since the admissions is not stricly based on test scores. That was a weak argument. And I'm not even a lawyer.

I agree. Let the SC provide some guidance on what is Constitutional when it comes to using race for admissions. Some people may not like the outcome, but its time for renewed guidance so we can start working on legal solutions.

How is this not "systemic" racism if the system is put in place to reduce Asian American's chances of admission? I mean, literally, the system is being designed to reduce the number of Asians in favor of other less qualified groups.

You conflate intent, motive, and effect. It’s not all about you.

Uneducated people think cases automatically end up before the Supreme Court.

If I remember correctly they had the best, scores, grades, and extracurriculars. They were however ranked low on kindness and personality. That seems whack to say the least.

So does this mean you do not think this will go up? Or are you just being a d-bag?
