Agree the prenup should be enforced. Nonetheless, the small amount of the prenup for a "gentleman" worth 400 million dollars is a perfect example of his cheapness and low regard for a woman he professed to love. |
Eh. Never say never. Rupert Murdoch is available again. |
I think Kevin should’ve gotten her a house close to her kids. I have a friend from a wealthy family (over $100M range) whose parents had a similar acrimonious divorce with his mom getting very little dude to a prenup. All that is going to happen with Christine is the same thing that happened with my friend and his mom which is that she is going to spend years guilting her children into paying her bills. But hurray for Kevin. |
+2, another woman on the planet with no issue with Kevin. |
Men and women with incomes of less than 2 million a year have done better by their former spouses than the cheap prenup and housing amount Christine was given. |
Not true. A college friend married a wealthy man with no prenup—his second marriage. She said he sheepishly brought it up two weeks before they were going to get married and she teased him about it and he never brought it up again. He was wealthy before they married but she married him at the cusp of his career blowing up. Some women, like my friend, are just better at maintaining power in their relationships. (I and I'm sure she gets that he probably took other measures to protect his premarital assets.) |
I still think she probably got more than the initial prenup said. I guess we will never know because it settled out of court. What do others think?
I'm still unclear why she left at all. Seemed to me like she was free to do as she pleased before. |
I'd have a little more sympathy for this sob story if there was some big reason for the divorce like cheating. Why leave now? Kids deserved an intact family unless there's something egregious happening. She could have stuck it out a few more years for their sake. She just got tired of Kevin and he should pay up? Nah. |
She agreed to it, knew the terms and should have been hustling to set up her own line of income. Not much sympathy here |
She was stealing from him! She bought herself and her parents expensive cars months before she filed. Baumgartner was allegedly using the household staff’s credit cards, provided by Costner, to take out cash advances and purchase items for her use. She reportedly paid her divorce lawyer, Susan Wiesner, “on the credit card of an employee which is traditionally used for Costner family house charges and paid by [Kevin].” He also claims she spent $25,000 on a criminal defense attorney from his personal property fund Christine "has shown a disturbing propensity in the last several months, both before and after separation, to take Respondent’s property without his knowledge or consent, especially since this case was filed." https://people.com/kevin-costner-claims-car-purchase-shows-wife-planning-her-exit-long-before-divorce-7561436 |
She asked for an accounting of expenditures that went toward other women. He is a notorious cheater and a neglectful husband, but she is prohibited from spilling the deets due to an NDA. She finally stood up for herself but unfortunately signed a lousy pre-nup. She'll be fine though, and better off in the end. |
His children will drive her off. Jerry Hall was reportedly heard blaming them for the demise of her marriage. |
I think in many cases, when there is a large age gap, the younger one in the couple leaves when the older is in their late 60's/early 70's as they become grumpy and often doesn't want to go out, and likely sex life is no longer good, etc. Hugh and Debbie most recently, Paulina P the model and her rockstar husband Rick Ocasek. Catherine Z Jones almost divorced her husband Michael Douglas but they got back together it seems. I've noticed this trend. Makes sense. |
That is not the problem with Hugh & Debbie... |
Boo-hoo. She's still a millionaire after the divorce and has never worked a day in her life. She got to live like a royal married to a rich A-lister for 20 years. And when he croaks, she'll guilt trip the three kids to live like a royal again on their inheritance. |
