Probably that little issue of the process they implemented actually being race-blind vs. federal case law precedent at higher education supporting even the Constitutionality of race-considerate admissions (Fisher v. U. Texas). It's only Coalition for TJ that doesn't want to see that they're screaming racism while trying to claim geography is racist. It, naturally, took a Reagan appointee judge to agree with them. |
Hunton Kurth is still on the appeals team (at least two attorneys) and taxpayers will be paying. See article below for information about the attorneys that will be representing FCPS. Not all of them are working pro Bono! https://wjla.com/news/local/fairfax-county-school-board-appeal-ruling-fcps-thomas-jefferson-high-school-for-science-and-technology-tj-admissions-policy-process-controversial-discrimination-asian-american-applicants-judge-claude-hilton-virginia |
Who approves these budgets? |
Our elected officials. The Fairfax Board of Supervisors approves the overall funding. The School Board decides how to spend it. As far as I know, the Board of Supervisors does not dictate exactly how the School Board spends the money. |
From the other thread: https://www.bizpacreview.com/2021/10/27/law-firm-t...-gang-raped-at-school-1155036/ “In recent years, the nation’s tenth-largest school district, Fairfax County Public School, has paid Hunton more money than it has paid almost any other company. Hunton’s work for FCPS frequently took the form of fighting parents who alleged problems, and it had a reputation for doing so aggressively...” "In one case the Hunton Andrews Kurth law firm... is battling a young woman who says that she was repeatedly raped on her Fairfax County middle school campus as a 12-year old and that she was slashed with a knife, burned with a lighter, anally penetrated, and gang raped…." |
LWNJs are very good at spreading misinformation. They are Russian assets. |
Fairfax Board of Supervisors must represent ALL the citizens of the county. Asians must make up 20% of the Board of Supervisors. Board of Supervisors must be exposed to the benefits of working in a "diverse" environment where they will be exposed to different ethnicities and cultures that is Fairfax County and that will make them a better human being and better government officials. We need Asian Diversity & Inclusion Officer for the Fairfax County appointed immediately to promote Asians in ALL aspects of the County government. We need 20% Asians on the school board. We need 20% of Asian judges in the county. We need 20% Asian judges in the county. We need 20% of top positions in the FCPS. We need Asian principal for TJ not some fumbling fool who cannot think for herself. It is a travesty that there is 0% Asians on the board and for pretty much all areas of the County government. It is not under-representation - it is a ZERO representation. Where are all the white liberal democrats screaming murder in this case? We want 20%. |
Even when lived in Maryland, many considered Virginia to be a backward Southern state with its own brand of plantation mentality. Reconstruction has been over some 150 years now. Get with it. |
Yup. Here comes the appeal. And it’ll probably be be back to reality for those who were bragging about the district court wins with dreams of TJ and UVA decals dancing in their heads. |
I guess you didn't read Fisher v. U. Texas, the decision for which was largely a procedural one and doesn't address the underlying question as it doesn't challenge existing strict scrutiny requirements, and I quote: There is disagreement about whether Grutter was consistent with the principles of equal protection in approving this compelling interest in diversity. See post, at 1 (Scalia, J., concurring); post, at 4–5 (Thomas, J., concurring); post, at 1–2 (Ginsburg, J., dissenting). But the parties here do not ask the Court to revisit that aspect of Grutter’s holding. |
Ummm . . . Put up a candidate. Can't win the lottery without buying a ticket no matter how much you pray for it. |
You clowns have been saying that since the first motion to dismiss was filed 2 years ago. |
They are likely being allowed to remain as co counsel in name only so that their names will stay associated with the case. There is zero chance that Verrilli would let them touch the actual case work. |
cAn say the same for black applicants to TJ - apply in numbers more than 2 or 3 dozen than you may get more than 7 or 8. In addition, Asians do run for offices and apply for positions at the FCPS or to become teachers at TJ and other schools but are not selected on the basis of race. Racial discrimination. We need Asian Diversity & Inclusion Officer for Fairfax County. |
It's the other way around. |
