Nope, Vincent Gray's Not Arrogant At All

Wow, the WaPo had to dig really deep for this one. I wish the people of Lorton Virginia would stay out of DC politics. I know it is difficult. Many of the people who work in DC, but live in MD or Virginia become so invested in DC politics, but could not tell you the name of their elected congressman.

Nice try. When you can't rebut the substance of an article, attack the people of Lorton, VA. Is this a tactic you learned in your debate class at your disadvantaged high school?

I don't give a flying heap about a traffic violation. And, I care even less what the good folks of Virginia care about DC politicians especially when most cannot name their governor. Come up with something better than a traffic violation. Do you speed. Do you cut people off in traffic. Do you always put your turn signa on before turning or clearing another lane. And, do you know where V. Gray was going when he commited his traffic infraction. Apparently someone from Virginia thinks he know. How does he know. Did he follow him to his destination. Again, come up with some real crap like giving funds and jobs to your peaceafrolics criminal buddies, frat brothers, high-donor developers, etc. etc.

Wow, talk about reaching.

Actually I'd say he is a man of the people since others were ticketed doing the same thing and this is not an unusual traffic violation. Just like the whole flap about the fence. Yeah, he should have gotten permits or not put the damn thing up but do you know how many DC residents do the exact same thing (build stuff illegally without getting DC permits)? This is not going to bother the average DC voter anywhere near the way that Fenty's frat brothers making tons of money for a subcontractor's work does.

Moron: The writer referenced and linked to another article. He was on his way to a very important sports event, which he apparently believed he was more entitled to see than anyone else waiting in traffic to get to it.

First off, that was a letter to the editor, so it's one person's opinion. Not that it doesn't matter, but it is hardly conclusive.

Secondly, yea, it sounds like a dickish move and one I generally hate to see people do, but does it call the man's character into question? I don't think so. Considering it happened 8 years ago, I find it irrelevant to the discussion of his candidacy now.

And, yes, I would say the exact same thing if this situation happened to another politician, regardless of what side of the aisle they are on.

Ah, the typical DCUM name calling when at a loss for something of substance. I will take the traffic infraction . . . what is the cost of a ticket, $60, $70, $100. You can have the 85million infraction to the city taxpayers.

So Gray got a ticket and paid it? That's what disqualifies him for you?
Well then, you're clearly going to start bashing Fenty and Rhee too, right? http://voices.washingtonpost.com/dc/2010/04/dc_audit_finds_unpaid_parking.html

BFD! On my way out the door with my Gray yard signs. More and more are popping up in my neighborhood.......

No. It was the nature of the violation. He didn't fail to come to a full stop at a sign. He wasn't driving 5 mph over the limit. He decided to drive on the shoulder of the road to get to a football game because he apparently believes himself to be too special to have to wait in line like everybody else. If that is not a supreme indicator of profound arrogance, I don't know what is.

Good luck with those signs. Take some water -- it's hot out there. I can't believe how many more Fenty signs I'm seeing. Just remember, an "I'm not Fenty" campaign won't get him the win in September. Most voters are not fools. He needs more that that, and so far he hasn't shown anything more than that.

I don't think this is a sign of arrogance. Rather, it is an indication of his commitment to the Redskins. What true Redskins fan wouldn't risk a moving violation in order to not miss kick off? The campaign slogan for this writes itself: "I'd pay a fine to get to the Skins game on time".

Given that Fenty has a reputation of having the police move everyone out of his way, people are likely to be more sympathetic to Gray's choice of driving on the shoulder.

If you want to talk about true arrogance in a car, just consider Fenty's accident in Chevy Chase not long ago. Fenty and a young guy ran into each other at an intersection. Fenty's police detail violated policy by writing a police report about it and declared no one at fault. It's a frickin intersection with stop signs. How could no one be at fault? In all likelihood, Fenty was at fault. Now that poor kid is probably looking at higher insurance rates, plus having to pay to get his own car fixed.

First of all, Gray actually has said more about what he'd do than Fenty has. Gray actually as an education plan (www.vincegrayformayor.com/education). That's more than Fenty has.
Secondly, Fenty is running an "I'm with Michelle Rhee" campaign. That won't get him the win in September.

Umm, how about this? "A vehicle assigned to the mayor currently has $770 in unpaid fines while a vehicle designated for Rhee has $345. "As of the date of this report, the fines had not been paid," auditor Deborah K. Nichols wrote."
Talk about thinking you're above the law????

Or even worst, the $82 million in city contracts given to the Mayor's unqualified fraternity brother, without Council approval?

Yep, that seems like the supreme indicator of profound arrogance to me.

That "plan" has been widely criticized in the Post as a list of wishes. He has no plan for how to pay for any of it (oh, wait, he's going to divert all of the money from Wards 2 & 3 & 1, I guess), and has not specified any way to implement it. So you're just talking out of your asshole (I mean your mouth) when you say Gray has a plan.

You wait. Fenty will win in September. My boss said so. And my boss is always right about politics. You don't know my boss.
