This is the truth that the OP and GOP will refuse to understand or acknowlege. This administration has addressed one part of the immigration crisis, but it will take bi-partisan legislation to get the rest of it solved. We need eVerify, we need more administrators to adjudicate asylum seekers, we need more technology at the border and we need a foreign policy that helps address the core issues that drive people away from their home countries, including climate change, which will force millions to move to more accommodating areas.

Note the Schumer numbers are incorrect

One far right wing source from 2010. I think it’s safe to say that the claim that Democrats oppose E-verify is - and I’ll put this charitably - invented.

Seems the GOP really wants high illegal immigration, both to fill their donors’ pockets and to keep you angry and riled up.

To be fair, there are some dems who oppose eVerify, but mostly out of equity concerns. The GOP who oppose it are because their benefactors want to continue to employ the undocumented workers.

But the GOP uses it to anger people to vote against Dems. Both parties get money from businesses so they’re unlikely to ever prosecute business owners.

You sound naive. If you and I are supporting them, why worry about a job?

DP Do you think they’re living the high life on government money??? RW have this fantasy that people slip over the border then get $3,000 a month forever from the government. Weird.

See when you say things like this it shows that you are a white liberal who has never and would never live anywhere close to illegal immigrants. Though you would happily employ one to watch your kid bc then your baby will hear Spanish and somehow instantly become bilingual upon learning to speak OR if you need your house cleaned OR inured bushes trimmed

And of course people come here for the benefits. They are coming countries where the government can’t even provide them clean running water. They come to the US and have a kid and their kid gets benefits - WIC, food stamps, etc. I bet you don’t even realize how many of the adults here illegally have kids back home being raised by someone else. They come here, meet someone new, and start a new family. They send home money each month to their whoever is raising their kids for them.

When you say things like that we all can see that you you know nothing about the actual benefits and social supports that immigrants receive. It’s all some image in your own mind.

I am a DP, and what is untrue about that the PP said? Kids of illegals are citizens by birth and therefore eligible for benefits. Any benefit resource days as much.
Food stamps are received as a grocery debit card. It’s about $100-200 per person per month, so 3-4 kids and the family doesn’t need to worry about groceries. Okay maybe it does but it’s a nice subsidy still.
Throw in free lunches and food banks and you don’t need to worry about what’s for dinner.
It’s not the most nutritious food but it’s savory.
Next, all the little add ons.
Camp scholarships, pandemic EBT money (4 payouts of about $300 per child in my state), free aftercare, clothing drives, gift cards for holidays from local charities. All of this is accessible if you have a legal kid, some of it even if the kid is illegal.
Churches, charities, utility subsidies, emergency rent subsidies, you name it.
I know this first hand as I have been involved in this area since covid. Maybe it’s just one blue state but I am pretty sure Maryland isn’t that far behind. Free healthcare!
Yes all of it isn’t top notch and you would never choose to live like that but remember where they came from.

I never said immigrants receive benefits.

I did say their kids born in the US and who are American citizens, receive benefits.

A few of your fellow bigots in this thread have said so though.

DP.
It doesn’t matter. Benefits are shared by the whole family.

Undocumented people are not able to get any public benefits. Only someone who actually has no clue would make such a claim. To the contrary and in reality, undocumented people stay in the shadows and work covertly to stay "out of the system" - it is only right wing BS and rhetoric that paints a picture of undocumented people living a life of luxury on the public dole.

How can you say something this untrue this with a straight face? Let's take just ONE example. Undocumented people use the public schools. That is a fact. Public schools are a public benefit. That is a fact.

And undocumented people pay all the same local taxes as everyone else. Sales taxes, excise taxes, property taxes (directly or indirectly through rent), personal property taxes, etc., and they spend most of their income in the local economy. Why would they be excluded from local public schools?

They pay rent in cash and rent many to a house. How is this for property tax when 20 people are using a house built for 4?
What personal property taxes? A couple hundred per year for their old jalopy? That sure pays for the all the benefits and more.
And no they don’t spend “most” of their income in local economy. As I said rent is paid in cash, food is paid for by the kids’ ebt cards, clothes are from donation bins, the only thing that is really a splurge is amusement park vacations (there’s a special affinity for those).

You got it all wrong. “We” need to change the laws that obligate us to adjudicate the claims of anyone who comes in and claims they are asylum seekers.
Yes to eVerify and let’s shut up about equity concerns already.
Technology at the border? Only to keep people out better.
Amnesty for those already here? No way.

NP. My single issue is human rights. Which are being trampled right now with trying to curtail voting rights, among many, many others affecting POC and LGBTQ.

Undocumetned people try to stay OUT of the system. What you are describing if right wing fiction.

Millions, LOL.

No, again, right wing fantasy.

For the last several years, every few months when the distraction was needed, the right was flooded with "hordes" and "masses" at the border. NOw they are gone, so you have to find another justification or fantasy to complain about.

Face it, this administration is solving problems and the right has to grasp at straws to find something, anything, to complain about.

You guys have the most incoherent hatred I have ever heard of. At least get your stories straight.

Also please give all due credit to Biden for dropping the number of border crossings. Something tells me you won’t be clicking through and reading that article though.

Democrat “open border” policies have skyrocketed migration, fentanyl and child sex trafficking. The numbers hardly scratch the surface.
