Undocumented people are not able to get any public benefits. Only someone who actually has no clue would make such a claim. To the contrary and in reality, undocumented people stay in the shadows and work covertly to stay "out of the system" - it is only right wing BS and rhetoric that paints a picture of undocumented people living a life of luxury on the public dole.

How can you say something this untrue this with a straight face? Let's take just ONE example. Undocumented people use the public schools. That is a fact. Public schools are a public benefit. That is a fact.

And they are the first to complain if you propose taking that away.
Also, they support giving amnesty to the same people. They propose for kids who came here illegally, and their parents, and more.

DP Do you think they’re living the high life on government money??? RW have this fantasy that people slip over the border then get $3,000 a month forever from the government. Weird.

See when you say things like this it shows that you are a white liberal who has never and would never live anywhere close to illegal immigrants. Though you would happily employ one to watch your kid bc then your baby will hear Spanish and somehow instantly become bilingual upon learning to speak OR if you need your house cleaned OR inured bushes trimmed

And of course people come here for the benefits. They are coming countries where the government can’t even provide them clean running water. They come to the US and have a kid and their kid gets benefits - WIC, food stamps, etc. I bet you don’t even realize how many of the adults here illegally have kids back home being raised by someone else. They come here, meet someone new, and start a new family. They send home money each month to their whoever is raising their kids for them.

Well said.

When you say things like that we all can see that you you know nothing about the actual benefits and social supports that immigrants receive. It’s all some image in your own mind.

I never said immigrants receive benefits.

I did say their kids born in the US and who are American citizens, receive benefits.

A few of your fellow bigots in this thread have said so though.

And undocumented people pay all the same local taxes as everyone else. Sales taxes, excise taxes, property taxes (directly or indirectly through rent), personal property taxes, etc., and they spend most of their income in the local economy. Why would they be excluded from local public schools?

This is the truth that the OP and GOP will refuse to understand or acknowlege. This administration has addressed one part of the immigration crisis, but it will take bi-partisan legislation to get the rest of it solved. We need eVerify, we need more administrators to adjudicate asylum seekers, we need more technology at the border and we need a foreign policy that helps address the core issues that drive people away from their home countries, including climate change, which will force millions to move to more accommodating areas.

To the contrary and in reality, undocumented people stay in the shadows and work covertly to stay "out of the system" - it is only right wing BS and rhetoric that paints a picture of undocumented people living a life of luxury on the public dole.

Among other things, undocumented people:

-drive unlicensed and without insurance
-contribute to housing code violations by living in homes not meant to hold over a certain number of unrelated occupants
-go to the ER for most of their medical needs, and fail to pay
-utilize public schools, demanding a shift in resources to accommodate those who do not speak English, or may be at a level of learning below their age
-price out citizens doing similar work. Example: in the past, a drywaller could support themself and their family. With seemingly unlimited undocumented competition working for much less, those drywallers now need to “learn to code”

Most undocumented workers are adults who work in the US and send money home to family. They leave their kids with family. In order to get benefits, they need a social security number. You cannot get benefits without one. If they are here illegally, why do you think they want to interact with government officials?! So silly. I grew up in Arizona and have witnessed this for decades.

As for drywall and other trade salaries, there is one major factor. The largest generation in US history, the baby boomers, drove down their own salaries through the law of supply and demand. Additionally, globalization offshored many manufacturing jobs which then drove more into the trades. However, these days the boomers are entering retirement and the US is reshoring so there are more jobs than people.

Our immigration system is broken. We need a working system, which will fix the undocumented worker problems. It will also be to our advantage as a nation, despite the garbage the GOP is feeding Americans.
