No one is not advancing equity by pushing for a lottery to replace a race-blind test. IF at all Sean is advocating for a lottery, then he is advocating for unfairness, racial discrimination against colored people, and against the concept of working hard to achieve your goals. Injustice and hounding someone for their accomplishments is a slippery slope. Should we do lotteries for everything else in life - food, jobs, college, sports, marriage - why just for TJ admissions? Advancing equity is hard and lazy solutions like a lottery devalue the effort and honesty it will take to achieve equity.

And to all those who are here. Please vote. My family voted for the first time today. Felt great! It is a privilege. We believe in the idea of America. A fair, diverse, striving, strong country. Best of luck to all.

Anonymous wrote:Many local Asians who’ve pushed their kids into TJ like the stacked deck and the idea of a more level playing field just infuriates them. Guess it won’t sound quite so much like they “made it” if they have to write their relatives abroad that their kid is at Langley HS or Oakton HS. Oh well.

Ugh so racist! It’s not about showing off to relatives, it’s because they think TJ will lead to a good college and good career. Not everyone has the generational wealth and social network as privileged white kids. Some people have to work hard for their success.

Ugh. Hate it when Asians make it sound like their kids are failures if they don’t get into one school. Maybe a TJ lottery will help nip this type of pathology in the bud.

Ugh! Hate it when sour-grape racists don’t read/understand posts and stereotype Asians. Maybe they think Aunt Becky was the real victim in the college scandal - “if it weren’t for these Asians making college admissions so competitive, she wouldn’t have had to bribe a coach”

Ugh. What drives TJ students to behave like this. Hint: crazy parents.

For someone supposedly championing equity you sure spread a lot of hate.

Makes me wonder how much you actually care about advancing equity as opposed to just bashing Asians.

She’s just thrilled she can finally unleash her racism while still feeling woke - heady combination

Follow the money and you’ll see some of those who gain the most by claiming anti-Asian discrimination.

Where there is an exam, there will be prep:

Your own schools prep kids for the AAP - are you really unaware of this?

And by using this to invalidate discrimination against Asians, you’re stooping to a new low

If this is the hill that area Asians and their stooges like Dick Saslaw want to die on, prepare for a long battle.

How are non-Asian kids excluded in the admissions process?
Are applicants held to different standards according to race?

PP’s unable to respond to this, because of course they aren’t held to different standards now. What PP can’t admit to is that they wish our Asian kids were held to a different standard, because then they would have to admit to racism.

PP, did you actually have an answer to this, or will you admit now that your ideal world isn’t actually race blind

The existence of other expensive TJ test prep centers only underscores the need for reform. Too bad some Asians only see that as discriminatory towards them.

Have you not read any of the threads on this forum? If you are unaware of how are are discriminated against please educate yourself. You take away what little we manage to make for ourselves (under the rules of a game you designed I might add) and you call it equity - be honest with yourself - you are racist and you like to hurt people.

I think it's so funny to have white people on this thread enlightening Asians about what discrimination really is. To dimiss the experience of the Asian americans posting on this thread and explain to us the hardship of dark brown people is beyond description.
Go away you SJW peeps, go get ready to break some windows next week. Stay indignant. It serves you well.
