2025 Girls Lax WCAC + ISL Outlook

So much lacrosse left to be played. SSSAS moms and dads may be getting a little ahead of themselves. They have won one game of consequence and now think they can pass judgement on everyone and everything. Let's see how they do this week vs Stone Ridge and thru the rest of their schedule and playoffs.

Why do you think that about those parents? I don't think that at all. I spoke with a couple is Saints parents and they think it will be an upset if they beat SR. To be honest, it sounds like every group of parents have been a little humbled this year (even miraculously GC parents). You sound like you kind of suck.

Has the Saint Stephens Spring Fling schedule been released? Curious to see who is playing this year. Usually they attract some good teams and have some very good match-ups.

Look, they went undefeated last year, challenged themselves with a very difficult out of conference schedule, and have won 6 straight. They beat Visi and Milton (which other top DC area teams failed to do).

From my perspective, they remain the top team in the DC area until someone beats them. The only team remaining on their schedule that has a chance to do that appears to be Potomac. It's too bad they don't play SR or SSSAS--or have a WCAC vs ISL Super Bowl, but it seems like they have earned some respect. Potomac game will be a good test.

Can we make that a yearly game? At the end of the season have the WCAC and ISL winners play each other in a bowl game? Maybe PopTarts would sponsor?

That would be fun. I'm sure both sides would be on board.

GC is the only team that has consistently been a top team in the area year in and year out, regardless of if they have been "the" top team. Like him or not, MH seems to get the best out of his players and the majority seem to like to play for him. He won't be everyone's cup of tea but DD likes him and appreciated that even when she was on JV that he knew her name and takes an interest in all of the players not just his varsity stars.

What?! Are you new here? Have you heard of a school called St. Stephens / St. Agnes?

Exactly - SSSAS is the only truly top team from DC year in and year out over the long term (decades) even though there is increasing parity in DC area teams now.

When is the last time they were nationally ranked though? ISL championships are nice for the school but national ranking matters more to a programs reputation overall and girls recruiting.

23 nationaly ranked.

Will this be the year Bishop McNamara gets a win in the WCAC? Have 3 good chances this week and next against St Mary’s Ryken, Elizabeth Seton and DJO. It will be interesting to see how these 4 teams finish in the conference standings.
Anonymous
St Mary’s Rykens best of these 4. DJO and Elizabeth Seton close to same. McNamara will have best shot against one of those 2 but will probably lose them all

Any Scores from the WCAC games today?

GC 24 DJO 8
PVI 15 Holy Cross 4

SJC 20 - Elizabeth Seton 6

Looking like SJC vs GC is shaping up to be a good matchup. SJC might not catch them this year but in the next year or two they may take over the top. Sad to see DJO continue to drop in the conference.

SJC has never beaten GC. I'm betting that streak continues forever.

GC is banged up big time right now, they are missing several key starters, even with them out, they still will plow through a very weak WCAC. SJC won't catch them this year or for at least the next 4...

I love seeing all those “Inside Lacrosse 12th National Ranking” hanging from the rafters.

You play to win trophies and games.

They have more appearances than any other DMV school by far nationally.

They also have 14 Recruits currently.

I guess it’s easy to make dumb comments when you are talking out your back side.

Seriously, they’ve won the ISL basically every year since before I was in HS (graduated 1992). Kathy is a living legend. They have no problem recruiting. One of a handful of schools that adds recruiting value over club.

SJC will not catch them in the next year or 2. Not with the 2029 class GC has coming in.
