Trump vs. DeSantis: who would do the most damage?

Let's assume the R wins the next election: who would be more catastrophic? Trump or DeSantis? I think DeSantis would be worse for the country, as his efforts to dismantle democracy would be more organized and less shambolic than what we witnessed in the Trump administration.

However, I am persuadable. I can imagine Trump's people having learned from experience and becoming more vicious.

Agree,Desantis is smarter and would cause more damage. With the exception of a hand full of focused, competent people Trump just put in self serving sycophants who didn't really do much.

The real damage comes from decades of crappy mainstream politics, any particular politician is just a small part of that.

Something about his crazy eyes and the way the GOP isn’t pretending to be normal anymore suggests he’d just do it himself.

DeSantis would be worse, but Trump did so much damage in his four years. I stick to my belief that the reason that Biden/Harris isn’t as visible as other previous president/VP duos is because they’re quietly repairing the damage Trump did. I’m not in a position to know specifically, but Trump set bombs, booby traps and generally sht the bed everywhere, as did his incompetent and/or malicious staff.

Trump is a showboat and little else, but he’s been in the WH and might have learned something.

DeSantis is a more conventional politico and he probably understands the minutiae of power levers better, but isn’t as exciting to watch as Trump.

Pick your poison! Anyone worried by these two needs to do some serious soul searching about how awful their politics is before someone comes along combining Trump’s and DeSantis’s ‘strengths’ into a single person.

I don't think DeSantis would kill anyone and I think he's smart enough to make sure his continued power is not even in doubt.

Trump is a clown who lost his race, lost the House, lost the Senate. DeSantis will cement power just like Hungary's Orban.
