Murder at Lululemon in Bethesda

You can be happy and doing better for yourself while working at a job you may or may not like. PP had said perhaps the murderer was miserable with her own life and that is why she took it out on Jayna. That is likely true, but also very disturbing to me. There are so many people here who so obviously are not happy with their own lives. Clearly most of them are not capable of murder (we hope). But I have met people who are raised to hate (there I said it) other races. There is pure hate in this crime. I think that is the most troubling part. Is anyone else thinking about this a lot? It's just so sad and unsettling, even though we know who did it. I don't want to sound paranoid and think maybe a coworker is a killer. But to think this is what happened and supposedly no one saw it coming. It's just scary.

I would not be surprised if we learn that she has some undiagnosed psychiatric disorder that could account for her rage, rather than hating Jayna because of her race.

I wonder why the lawyer is advising her to plead not guilty. I thought he would try and plea bargain for a lesser charge. The evidence seems pretty cut and dry but I am sure there are things we haven't been told yet.

Agreed. For the last time WTH does race have to do with this? My take is that Norwood is a middle class black woman who has grew up with and feels comfortable with white people. I don't get why people are focused on the racial aspect - in all likelihood both women have much more in common with each other because of socioeconomics.

Because there are some racists posters that frequent this board. This isn't the first time the closet racists have come out and aired some of the ugly out of their souls. It's anonymous so that makes it ok.

Please note: this is an innocent question, not an attempt at baiting, aggravating, insinuating, whatever-ing. I read today that Brittney's lawyer is saying that the defense will probably focus on the fact that Brittney is only 120 pounds and was therefore not strong enough to physically do what was done to Jayna. I apologize if this has been raised here already, since I haven't read all 70+ pages. But what do people think of this? I am as convinced as one can be from the circumstantial evidence that she is guilty, but this did make me wonder how is that possible? My only guess is that when someone gets into a homicidal rage like that, that the adrenalin allows for something like this to happen (a la the whole "mother being able to lift a car to rescue her trapped child" scenario).

If she hit her with a hammer on the head, Jayna prob fell unconscious immediately. Not difficult after that to keep hammering etc

But this is where the premeditation comes in. Lululemon keeps those types of tools in the back of the store. So she would have had to go to the back room to get them. It's not like they just leave the tools lying around for someone to pick up in a fit of rage.

Lawyer here (although not a criminal lawyer). The defendant pleading not guilty now does not preclude a later plea bargain. It's just an initial plea. I have never worked in criminal law, but I would guess that a plea bargain in a big case like this would happen, if at all, only later, after the defense has seen what evidence the prosecution has and conduct its own tests and investigation.

About the evidence - it sounds like they have plenty of evidence of Brittany's involvement, but I'm not sure what if anything they have proving that she actually killed Jayna. She could argue that someone else committed the murder and she just helped with the coverup.

I bet her lawyer will try to get the trial moved elsewhere in the state. With all the publicity it has gotten here it would be hard to find a jury.

They probably had to go in the office to get the wallet and in the back is where the tools were. She knew exactly what she was doing. One swift blow to the head and Jayna was probably knocked out. Then she freaking stabbed her and choked her with something so bad she basically decapitated her. In that scenario weight does not matter. Dumb ass lawyer! I think the state attorney is on point and the evidence is as well!

I'm not trying to argue here but why would you think they do have the evidence to prove the murder? They have her sole DNA in the store and Jaynas car and no one else. Not to mention other things...

I wonder if she killed her with one blow to the head... and then later when she was trying to make it look like an outside attack slit her throat and hit her many more times. Gawd I feel ill even typing that

Astute observation for a newcomer. Pathetic, isn't it? Clearly a critical gene flaw unique to the gender. Maybe having babies at advanced maternal age makes one a bit bitter in her old age, no? No wonder why "female bosses" get a bad rap in the workplace, what a nightmare working for one of them.

Most people have some racists side(all people). If you don't stictly abide by Martin KIng's words (let all men be judgedged by the character of their soul, not the color of their skin) then I think you should look in the mirror next time you call a group or anyone "racist".

Chances are you might find out a little something about yourself.

Lululemon I believe was a hate crime I'm sure committed on some part because of race.

[nitpick]"not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character"[/nitpick]

Lawyer PP - or any other lawyers - is the defendant only entitled to discovery after she has pled not guilty?

Is there anyway we can have this poster removed from this discussion? How do we go about making that happen. This is incredibly ridiculous that we have a basher in this Forum.
