LOL. First, that's no reason to mount pages and pages of vocal attack. Second, disadvantages with respect to previous pipeine (aka none), new club, and uneven talent have all been acknowledged by WSVA parents. Finally, what in the hell do you care about the development if you aren't a WSVA family and have no intention of joining. Bottom line: the best way to justify your decision is to pump your own club and not tear down another. For any parents who aren't satisfied with the development they see at WSVA, there are many other area options. That said, the parents I've spoken with are happy with what they are getting and were not happy about the rumors of disbanding. |

Loudoun 04 ECNL, a player pool previously devastated by the merger with FCV, has a better record against VDA 04 than WS.
Loudoun 04 ECNL has picked up 5 former DA players who chose ECNL over WS DA. In the same time, WS 04 has picked up zero former DA or ECNL players and will continue to bleed talent. Counter point? |
The counter point is why do YOU care? Exactly what is the overall point YOU are trying to make and why should anyone but you care about it? |
Arlington 04 DA didn't pick up any former 04 FCV DA players. McLean ECNL didn't, BRYC ECNL didn't and VDA ECNL didn't either. Exactly what is the point? |
|
The other counter point is that if you watched the WSVA vs. VDA game at 2004, you would have seen an evenly matched effort. The two goals were on set plays, which can go either way all the time. Kudos to VDA for getting them. But showcase play with substitution is not the same as an in-season match. Personally I"d rather lose close games over and over again than win in a blowout.
Also, no one knows why any given player picks DA vs. ECNL vs. another option. Sometimes it's HS, or location convenience (which didn't exist the previous year with Loudoun since the club wasn't an option), or some other reason. But if it was because those players wanted to leave due to unhappiness, good for them. Ironic that we're pointing out all the WS players on ECNL teams when previous posts said none of them could make any other competitive roster. |
Congratulations! Great job of recruiting! Please continue to help me make the argument that the strongest players on your team continue to recruited. |
Perhaps look at the game reports of last year to determine motives for some of the FCV kids to change to Loudoun as well. But it is not shocking that the players who left FCV chose a club who's practice field is 3 miles away from FCV's over clubs that are 10 20 miles away in NoVA traffic no less. Clearly the decision to go to Loudoun was made by parents with clearly more quality of life perspective and more important things to worry about than you do. |

All Spirit needs to do in order to flip the tables immediately is the one thing that they can do that the other clubs can't do, and that is to say two words, "fully funded".
They are currently not in the financial situation to do that but it is their ultimate nuclear option to attract top talent. |
|
That is a great point. Our daughter is not with Spirit, but we'd give it a hard, hard look if it was fully-funded.
Unfortunately, Spirit and the other NWSL teams are years and years away from being able to offer this. It will never happen during our daughter's playing career. |
I provide facts. You provide emotion. I put my money will my funds will grow based on performance. You obviously believe the hype and bought bitcoin. Now you must make us all believe it's worth something. It's hard to sale a BS product though. |
Orlando and I believe Galaxy were/are funded. But your point is valid. Those clubs are also MLS so they have a better revenue stream than the stand alone NWSL clubs have currently. NWSL will get a post World Cup bump in attendance but they would all need to sustain that level of interest beyond. It will take in house attendance and other things like TV deals to move the needle which are still years away. |
That you care so much about what a club you proclaim to have no interest in is what is emotional. you are the one who is constantly triggered by anything positive posted about Spirit. I just want to know why you are so invested in a club that you have no child playing in? You want to fancy yourself as some kind of truth crusader about hte inner workings of club you have no affiliation with. That seems a bit emotional to me. |
Stick to facts. People should make decesions and opinions based on truths not propaganda. Sucess speaks for itself. It doesnt need a spokesperson to defend its position. |
Oh "Fact Provider" - please, oh, please do tell us why 5 former DA players chose ECNL. Player 1 ? Player 2 ? Player 3 ? Player 4 ? Player 5 ? Did these 5 girls feel like they weren't good enough to lead teams to a winning record after 1 year of DA? Give us the scoop, please. According to everyone here, these 5 phenoms could have "easily" displaced 5 out of the 11 starters and changed the momentum of WSVA U15. All wins to come, they would be immediately recognized by USSF scouts and placed at YNT. That would of been the best ROI, instead all that they got was 5-9-6 Loudoun. |
You are using facts to support an opinion. An opinion is not a fact. Do what you want with your kid and let other parents do what they want with theirs. What possible propaganda has been stated about Spirit? Again, it has been acknowledged that overall the club record is poor. It has been acknowledged that the overall talent lacks depth. It has been acknowledged that some age group rosters are large. It has been acknowledged that every team has a play-up. Exactly where has any of these points been disputed? The points have been qualified and explained within the context of local club, league landscape but those are also FACTS that can explain many of the acknowledged Spirit shortcomings. You claim that Spirit's results are poor, please point to me where that fact has been denied. What you don't understand is the difference between a contradiction or a denial and and explanation. So now when parents discuss Spirit's results over VDA as a head to head comparison of a metric that you have used in the past to criticize Spirit you, or someone like you, then accuse of Spirit parents of changing the narrative that suits their needs. No, they are simply using your own metric to demonstrate a level of improvement of club performance in a small head to head sample size. |
