When you don't want to see something, you never will... |
Pretty odd that they are grabbing people who are at the top of youth soccer in the area if they are going to drop their youth soccer program, don'tcha think?? |
Utterly ridiculous post. Been with Mikey for 3 years and have not seen any of this. |
Baldwin is not hiring them because of their connections to current youth programs; he’s hiring them because of their connections to his daughter. Larry coached her on the club level and Richie coached her in high school. |
Different poster: I have no reason to think the DA is going away, but there is ZERO about this that is DA related. He was hired for the pro team. |
This is incorrect. He was hired as CEO of the organization. That covers the entire business operation. Like it or not, the DA comprises a substantial portion of WS business operations. You’re thinking of Burke, who was hired as the coach. But even in that case, the previous coach was also the DA Academy Director. Or didn’t you already know that? |
This thing just gets weirder and weirder. Unless Larry Best has another professional career that I don't know about (quite possible), it seems odd to hire a youth coach, even a tenured one like Best, to be the CEO of an NWSL franchise which is akin to a small to medium sized business. His coaching savvy won't help him much at running a business. Somebody please tell me he has another professional career outside of soccer that makes this make sense. And similarly, Burke has more experience coaching at the (boys) youth level than anything else. He appears to be a noob in the area of pro women's soccer. |

Why would they scrap the Academies? It cost them nothing. In fact, they make money by creating season ticket holders.
Am I missing something? If anything, I can see Larry forging a Spirit/Bryc partnership like it was intended 2 years ago. Expand the brand...not decrease it. That's business 101. |
s Larry had his own company back in the day and sold it for $$$ |
| So I take it Richie’s leaving FCV? If so who’s taking over his teams? |
| Hiring your friends never seems to end well... |
| Hire Thomas Rongen to do something while you're at it... |
A Spirit VA/BRYC girls partnership or merger of some kind would be really interesting. I’d be in favor of it. |
I'd love to hear how that would work --- ECNL vs. DA. And I'd love hear BRYC explain how its now a good idea to partner with DA club when they refused to a few years back and told the parents that ECNL was a better option and where BRYC needed to be. |
| Because they’d be partnering with a pro club. Not a very tough sell. |
