Thanks for the link! That was a truly awful survey. They asked the same thing twice, and the second time it was labeled “Option A/B” in the question but “Option 1/2” in the drop down response. I am a little bit embarrassed for whoever put that out there. But still glad to weigh in.

It said I should check all that apply (which was employee and parent for me), but wouldn’t let me.

There’s just more benefits:

-Less summer slide
- More frequent breaks which is helpful to both students and teachers
- More time for teaching planning in the year.

Heck, at this point I’d be okay with a half day each month to allow teachers to better plan and provide support to students.

I love having labor day for family time.

You still get the 3-day weekend regardless of when school starts.

It’ll actually be a 4-day weekend this year because of the Jewish holiday.

Exactly. And HS students in AP classes get more prep time.

AP exams are in May. Would kids be studying for AP exams during Labor day?

When I taught AP, there was an assignment due the day after Labor Day. My 9th grader in APUSH had 70 notecards due the day after Labor Day this year.

Why does it say it is for 2020-2021 when it is for 2021-2022? Ugh they are so incompetent.

I would prefer the innovative calendar, but it looks like it will only be at two elementary schools? Are they piloting it there? I'm able to click on the innovative calendar survey but why send it to everyone if it only affects those two schools?

Where does it say 2020-2021? It seems like you are the one so incompetent.

There was initially one spot with the old dates, as though they'd reused last year's template and missed that one instance, but looks like they've caught the mistake now.

Yes, they're currently in the first school year of the innovative calendar at Arcola and Nix.

Yes, only two schools have year-round school right now. If you would like more schools to do year-round school you need to advocate for that with the board of ed.

They changed it. Yesterday the headline said “seeking feedback on the 2020-2021 school calendar.” Not much attention to detail until we point it out in DCUM.

I usually am in total agreement with the PP who said they appreciate the family time on Labor Day but haven't we all had enough family time this year??? Get the kids in school!
