I hope they’re getting arrested.

You mean, Trump supporters being held to the same standards as everybody else?
That would be a first.

I worked that station yesterday. Once they were moved, they had a right to make a ruckus if they wanted. They were enthusiatic. I heard them outside, but, I wasn't aware they were protesting early voting. I thought they were just shouting "Trump!" and "4more years! I didn't see them blocking the doors. They may have just been in the way of the line or too close to the building. (All political speech has to stay so many feet back from the door).

If they were actually protesting early voting, it is ironic that they came inside and VOTED EARLY!

I saw them and served them.

No, they don’t. That is intimidation.

Yes. How do I know they won't rough us up, like Trump made them do at rallies?

Until someone makes a threstening gesture, you can't presume evil intention. But, there were voters who felt harrassed, and that's why the waiting voters were brought inside to wrap around the hallways. It was all handled well, and that's how democracy should work!

You can, actually. What other reason would they have to protest a voting place? How many excuses do you need to manufacture for what is fundamentally anti-democratic behavior? Why do you defend what is functionally fascism? They’re entitled to go vote there (presuming they’re registered and eligible to vote in that location), they are not entitled to protest voting or block access, and in the time of covid they certainly shouldn’t be out there spewing their unmasked breath.

It’s disgusting and the worst kind of optics. The GOP is totally opposed to their opponents voting.

I would not want to risk them becoming violent at a polling station. I don't know if what they are doing is technically illegal, but it's certainly scary. I just don't trust them not to start shooting people - or running them over with cars. Then they get their whole mob to start chanting about how they're very fine people for doing it, and it's all just self-defense.

They really do just prove who they are every day, don't they.

I don’t see it as a threat. They’re just stupidly out there yelling. I’d give them the finger and saunter on by.

What if this happens in open carry states?

Virginia is an open carry state. Is there an ordinance in Fairfax against it? I’ll bet these fascists will next be carrying. All we need is some idiot to have an accidental discharge and a one sided war will erupt.

There are no accidents.

The level of stupidity to protest early voting is absolutely astounding.

Political speech is the MOST protected speech!

They have to stay X feet back, but once they fo that, they can chant and clap and cheer if they want. Nobody has to like it, but they can do it...and although I do not support their position and I question their intelligence/strategy/logic, the most obvious place to have political speech is where people are going to make political decisions!

I'm sure back in the 1700s and 1800s, men with wigs werr giving speeches outside of voting places too! That is democracy, and we should protect it even if we support the other party.

If the weren't blocking anybody or threatening harm -- which I don't think they were -- then they can be obnoxious if they want. Probably won't win any new converts that way, but they can have their say.

You can buy "I voted" stickers on Amazon. I plan to vote on the 14th and wear a sticker every day after that. It might do nothing, but maybe it will remind just one person to vote early so that they don't encounter long lines on Nov 3 and go home.

I might see if there is a pin available. I have voted absentee the last three years and I miss getting the stickers.

I saw someone with a pin like that when I voted on Friday.

I don't think there will be long lines on Nov 3...most will vote in the 2 -6 weeks before.

Just last week, Fairfax county made it illegal to have weapons in government buildings.

This is a COMMON SENSE gun law that should be replicated everywhere else in this country. RGB would be proud!

Yes, Virginia, your Republican Party should focus on winning elections instead of being a total clown show.

They don't know what to do. They don't hold a single statewide office.

Have compassion. LOL.

There will be in some places. Like precincts in Georgia with large nonwhite populations.

2018 turnout was the highest midterm turnout since 1914. I think we're going to break records again.

Because no one was. No matter how many times it’s refuted, the same troll keeps showing up to claim otherwise. Report the troll.

“Election officials said that the group stayed about 100 feet from the entrance to the building and, contrary to posts on social media, were not directly blocking access to the building.”

But the NYT is part of the corrupt news media. Fake news! I only trust Twitter!
