I went to Mt Vernon today. I got there at 12:30, 30 minutes before polls opened. The first in line had arrived at 6:30.

It took me nearly 4 hours to vote.

You don't have to do it the hard way. You can order your ballot on line. Receive it in about a week (there is no backlog now). Fill it out at home. Drop it off at a drop box.

It works. I don't hsve 4 hours to spend waiting in line.

It also helps not to be "first" or vote on the first day. Plenty of other days.

I'd rather be as confident as possible that my vote counted. I know it's not rational, but looking around the country there are millions who feel as I do.

Solid blue? Maybe in NOVA. There’s an entire state out there that is not “solid blue.”

Do I need to explain statewide elections to you?

No, snotty - you don’t. Of course I know VA will probably go to Biden, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be a huge percentage who vote for Trump. I always find it interesting to see the exact counts for each candidate. The statement “VA is solid blue of course” completely dismisses all of the red voters.

You don't want them to be dismissed? End the Electoral College.

The EC is enshrined in our Constitution - you realize that, right?

So was the 3/5ths rule. I am ok that is gone.

At this rate the polls are going to be empty on Election Day.

They are only open from 1pm to 7pm. The abbreviated hours are a bit irritating.

I went to drop my absentee ballot off at the library near me this evening. There were easily 30 people in line, and more cars coming in when I left around 6:45.

The McLean location had a very, very long line and zero parking. People were parking on a grassy section by the road. I didn’t stay but will try my luck again in a few days!
